C/EBPβ Acts Upstream of NF-κB P65 Subunit in Ox-LDL-Induced IL-1β Production by Macrophages

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2018
Background/Aims: Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) is one of the critical inflammatory factors during atherogenesis. CCAAT/enhancer binding proteins β (C/EBPβ), a regulator of IL-1β production, recently been evidenced as a key player in the development of ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The effect of oxidative stress and glucocorticoids on TGF-ß1 production in airway epithelial cells

open access: yes, 2010
Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) is implicated in inflammation and airway wall remodeling in inflammatory airway disease. Oxidative stress has also been implicated in the pathogenesis of inflammatory lung disorders. Reactive oxygen species (ROS),

The Regulation of Aggrecanase ADAMTS-4 Expression in Human Achilles Tendon and tendon-Derived Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Several members of the ADAMTS (A Disintegrin And Metalloproteinase with ThromboSpondin motifs) family have been identified as aggrecanases, whose substrates include versican, the principal large proteoglycan in the tendon extracellular matrix.

TNFα and IL-1β modify the miRNA cargo of astrocyte shed extracellular vesicles to regulate neurotrophic signaling in neurons

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2018
Astrocytes are known to be critical regulators of neuronal function. However, relatively few mediators of astrocyte to neuron communication have been identified.

Hyperuricemia and Pro Inflammatory Cytokine (IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α)

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Rheumatology, 2018
Background. Rugerio et al 2006 reported that there were a positive correlation between the level of hyperuricemia and the level of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α pro infl ammatory cytokines value. On the other hand, Choi et al reported a negative correlation between hyperuricemia and the level of pro infl ammatory cytokine in the late phase of hyperuricemia.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Hippocampal distribution of IL-1β and IL-1RI following lithium-pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus in the developing rat

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2016
The contribution of Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) to neuronal injury induced by status epilepticus (SE) in the immature brain remains unclear. The goal of this study was to determine the hippocampal expression of IL-1β and its type 1 receptor (IL-1RI) following

IL-1β Suppresses Innate IL-25 and IL-33 Production and Maintains Helminth Chronicity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Approximately 2 billion people currently suffer from intestinal helminth infections, which are typically chronic in nature and result in growth retardation, vitamin A deficiency, anemia and poor cognitive function.
