The Correlation b etween IL - 1β and IL - 10 Levels in Estimating t he Risk of Febrile Seizures

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Life Science, 2014
Febrile seizures are the most-common form of seizures in children with fever and evidence from clinical and experimental studies suggests the potential role of immune generated products in their genesis.

Species-specific IL-1β is an inflammatory sensor of Seneca Valley Virus 3C Protease.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens
Inflammasomes play pivotal roles in inflammation by processing and promoting the secretion of IL-1β. Caspase-1 is involved in the maturation of IL-1β and IL-18, while human caspase-4 specifically processes IL-18.

Interference of Interleukin-1β Mediated by Lentivirus Promotes Functional Recovery of Spinal Cord Contusion Injury in Rats via the PI3K/AKT1 Signaling Pathway

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2022
Purpose. Inflammation and apoptosis after spinal cord contusion (SCC) are important causes of irreversible spinal cord injury. Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) is a key inflammatory factor that promotes the aggravation of spinal cord contusion.

Alteration of dopamine, homovanillic acid (HVA) with interleukine-1β (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in cerebral palsy [PDF]

open access: yesBiodiversitas Journal of Biological Diversity, 1970
Now, diagnosis of cerebral palsy base only on clinical finding without involve the alteration of the neurochemistry cause by cerebral hypoxic, although cerebral palsy is a syndrome cause by cerebral hypoxic; so, the accuracy diagnosis of this disease is very low.

Inhibition of uric acid or IL‐1β ameliorates respiratory syncytial virus immunopathology and development of asthma

open access: yesAllergy, 2020
AbstractBackgroundRespiratory syncytial virus (RSV) affects most infants early in life and is associated with increased asthma risk. The specific mechanism remains unknown.ObjectiveTo investigate the role of uric acid (UA) and IL‐1β in RSV immunopathology and asthma predisposition.MethodsTracheal aspirates from human infants with and without RSV were ...

Ablation of LRP6 in alpha‐smooth muscle actin‐expressing cells abrogates lung inflammation and fibrosis upon bleomycin‐induced lung injury

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

Salmonella manipulates the host to drive pathogenicity via induction of interleukin 1β.

open access: yesPLoS Biology
Acute gastrointestinal infection with intracellular pathogens like Salmonella Typhimurium triggers the release of the proinflammatory cytokine interleukin 1β (IL-1β).

Glibenclamide inhibits NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated IL-1β secretion in human trophoblasts

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2017
Infection-associated pregnancy complications cause premature delivery. Caspase-1 is involved in the maturation of interleukin (IL)-1β, which is activated by the NLRP3 inflammasome. To characterize the significance of the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway in the placenta, the effects of activators and inhibitors on NLRP3-related molecules were examined using ...

The inflammatory molecules IL-1β and HMGB1 can rapidly enhance focal seizure generation in a brain slice model of temporal lobe epilepsy [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2014
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by a hyperexcitable brain tissue and unpredictable seizures, i.e., aberrant firing discharges in large neuronal populations. It is well established that proinflammatory cytokines, in addition to their canonical involvement in the immune response, have a crucial role in the mechanism of seizure ...
