IL-13 released by and localized in human basophils

The Journal of Immunology, 1996
Abstract We and others have shown that human basophils can synthesize and release IL-4. However, IL-13, a cytokine that closely resembles IL-4, has not hitherto been described as a basophil product. The production of IL-13 by basophils was demonstrated by immunocytochemistry.

Effect of IL-13 and IL-13 blocker (mIL-13Rα2) on airway smooth muscle (ASM)

Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 2004
Abstract Rationale The cytokine IL-13 plays an important role in inducing features of asthma including airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR). We previously reported the effect of IL-13 and mIL-13Rα2 on AHR in vivo (ATS, 2003). The purpose for this study is to determine the effect of IL-13 and mIL-13Rα2 on ASM function in vitro.
