Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...

Lowered IL‐37 gene expression and elevated IL‐37‐producing tissue‐resident immune cells in psoriasis lesional biopsies

Pathology International, 2023
AbstractPsoriasis is an immune cell‐dependent chronic autoimmune skin disorder. Interleukin 37 (IL‐37) is a cytokine belonging to the IL‐1 family that shows anti‐inflammatory and protective effects in various mouse models of psoriasis. Even though various animal models are used to investigate the pathogenic mechanisms of psoriasis, human clinical ...

The role of IL-37 in cancer

Medical Oncology, 2016
Interleukin 37 (IL-37) is a new member of the IL-1 family which all have a similar β-barrel structure. Since its discovery, IL-37 has been studied extensively in immunological field. It has been established that IL-37 possesses anti-inflammatory characteristics both in innate immune response as well as in acquired immune responses by downregulating pro-

Role of IL-37 in Cardiovascular Disease Inflammation

Canadian Journal of Cardiology, 2019
Inflammation is closely related to the pathogenesis and prognosis of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Interleukin-37 (IL-37), an anti-inflammatory IL-1 family cytokine, shifts cytokine expression from pro- to anti-inflammation via regulation of macrophage polarization and lipid metabolism.

IL-37 and 38 signalling in gestational diabetes

Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 2017
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is still a clinical challenge around world. Inflammation contributes to the pathogenesis of GDM, the precise underlying mechanism remains to be explored. IL-37 and 38 play important role in autoimmunity, but their role in the development of GDM is unclear.

Effect of IL-37 on Allergic Airway Inflammation

Annals of the American Thoracic Society, 2016
The new cytokine IL-37 has been described as a negative regulator of innate immunity. It reduces activation of dendritic cells and the production of proinflammatory mediators in murine and human immune cells. Although recent results from the CLARA childhood asthma cohort suggested an impact of IL-37 on human asthma pathogenesis, the receptor for IL-37 ...
