Contribution of host-related immune factors to frequency and severity of infections in lung transplant recipients [PDF]
Background Lung transplantation (LTx) is associated with an increased risk of infection, causing notable morbidity and mortality at all phases post-transplantation.

Exploratory Analysis of the Inhibitory Effects of Propranolol on NLRP3 and Pyrin Inflammasomes. [PDF]
Objective Propranolol, a nonselective beta receptor blocking agents, impacts cAMP levels and is commonly used to treat hypertension and hemangioma in children and adults. Although there are reports indicating its anti‐inflammatory properties, the exact mechanism is not fully understood. Methods Murine and human monocytes and macrophages were exposed to

Rhoifolin Alleviates Ulcerative Colitis by Targeting NMNAT1 and Activating SIRT1-FOXO1 Signaling to Enhance ILC3s Effector Function. [PDF]
Rhoifolin directly targets NMNAT1, thereby activating nicotinamide salvage pathway and promoting intracellular NAD+ biosynthesis. Elevated NAD+ levels enhance SIRT1 activity, leading to FOXO1 deacetylation and nuclear translocation. Nuclear FOXO1 subsequently binds to the IL‐22 promoter, upregulating IL‐22 transcription and potentiating ILC3 effector ...

Interleukin-1α Mediates Pancreatic Fibroblast Activation, Regulates Immune Cell Recruitment and Fibrosis in Acute and Chronic Pancreatitis. [PDF]
During pancreatitis, IL‐1α is released from necrotic acinar cells. In response to IL‐1α, pancreatic fibroblasts release chemokines and cytokines that regulate the recruitment of immune cells to the damaged organ. Furthermore, IL‐1α primes fibroblasts, resulting in increased tissue fibrosis during chronic pancreatitis.

Wound Age Estimation: Pro-inflammatory Cytokines versus Immuno-histochemistry [PDF]
Rationale and background: In forensic medical investigations, it is an important matter to determine whether a wound found on autopsy was inflicted before or after death and, if inflicted ante-mortem, how long before death it was sustained.

Pro-Inflammatory Properties of Salivary Gland-Derived Fibroblasts—Implications in Sjögren’s Disease [PDF]
Salivary gland dysfunction is a hallmark of Sjögren’s disease (SjD). Here, we investigated the pro-inflammatory properties of salivary gland-derived fibroblasts (SGF) that were cultured from minor salivary gland (MSG) tissues of patients with SjD and ...

Anti-Inflammatory Activity of a Demineralized Bone Matrix: An In Vitro Pilot Study
Demineralized bone matrix (DBM) is commonly used for the reconstruction of bone defects. Early graft consolidation involves a transient inflammatory process. It is, however, unclear whether DBM can modulate this process.
