Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Benchmarking Illumina and Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) sequencing platforms for whole genome sequencing of bacterial genomes and use in clinical microbiology

open access: yesBMC Medical Genomics
Background In microbial diagnostics, whole-genome sequencing (WGS) is used to address key questions such as species identification, presence of antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs), virulence genes, and outbreak detection.

Lessons from microRNA Sequencing Using Illumina Technology

open access: yesAdvances in Bioscience and Biotechnology, 2016
The numbers of reads generated by second-generation sequencing technologies permit to establish in a single sequencing lane multiple microRNA (miRNA) expression profiles from small RNA-derived cDNA libraries tagged by barcodes consisting of few bases.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

A Short Review on Illumina Sequencing Technology

open access: yesAustin Journal of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, 2022
DNA sequencing is that the method of crucial the supermolecule sequence – the order of nucleotides in deoxyribonucleic acid. It includes any methodology or technology that’s accustomed verify the order of the four bases: A, guanine, cytosine, and T. Illumina technology is sequencing by synthesis approach and is presently the foremost used technology ...

Immune‐Driven Expression in Inclusion Body Myositis With T‐Cell Large Granular Lymphocytic Leukemia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives T‐cell large granular lymphocytic leukemia (T‐LGLL), reported in up to 58% of inclusion body myositis (IBM) patients, is a rare leukemia of cytotoxic or less commonly helper T cells. The range of myopathies in T‐LGLL and the impact of coexisting T‐LGLL in IBM are not well understood. Our objectives are to investigate the spectrum of

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe
