Mixed-ligand complex formation by Cu(II) with imidazole and dipeptides

open access: yesInorganica Chimica Acta, 1980
Abstract The species distribution and stability constants were evaluated for six mixed imidazole (A)-dipeptide (B) complexes of Cu(II) in aqueous perchlorate medium at I = 0.15 M (NaClO 4 ) and 37 °C from pH titration data. The dipeptides used are glycylglycine, glycyl-L-alanine, L-alanylglycine, glycyl-L-leucine, L-leucylglycine and glycinamide.

Balenine, imidazole dipeptide, induces activation of superoxide dismutase in myotubes

Fisheries Science, 2021
Balenine is one of the endogenous imidazole dipeptides. It is composed of beta-alanine and 3-methyl-l-histidine, which exist mainly in the muscles and the brain. The exact biological properties of balenine are still not well known, although the antioxidant activity of carnosine, another imidazole dipeptide, is known.

2-Oxo-imidazole dipeptides inhibit peroxynitrite-dependent tyrosine nitration

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2023
Carnosine and anserine were reported to inhibit tyrosine nitration. However, there are no reports on the nitration inhibitory activities of balenine, 2-oxo-carnosine, 2-oxo-anserine, and 2-oxo-balenine. We demonstrated for the first time that these compounds exhibit inhibitory activities against peroxynitrite-dependent tyrosine nitration.

Histamine synthesis, imidazole dipeptides, and wound healing.

Surgery, 1982
The relationships among anserine (beta-alanyl-1-methyl-L-histidine), carnosine (beta-alanyl-L-histidine), free histidine, and histamine metabolism were examined in rats wounded by dorsal skin incision. Following wounding, rats were treated with either a histamine liberator (compound 48/80) or a histidine decarboxylase inhibitor (4-imidazolyl-3-amino-2 ...

Disorders in the Metabolism of Glutathione and Imidazole Dipeptides

2012
Genetic defects have been described in five of the six steps of the γ-glutamyl cycle. Glutathione-synthetase deficiency is the most frequently recognized disorder and, in its severe, generalized form, it is associated with hemolytic anemia, metabolic acidosis, 5-oxoprolinuria (pyroglutamic aciduria) and CNS damage.

CHAPTER 3. The Chemistry of Imidazole Dipeptides

2015
Carnosine, anserine, balenine and homocarnosine are imidazole dipeptides found exclusively in animal tissue, especially in skeletal muscle and nerves. These compounds exist as an equilibrium of two tautomeric structures of their imidazole ring, known as Nτ–H and Nπ–H, usually shifted towards the former tautomer. While terrestrial mammals and amphibians

IMIDAZOLE DIPEPTIDES IN EXPERIMENTAL ALCOHOL-INDUCED MYOPATHY

Alcohol and Alcoholism, 1992
Rats were chronically fed a nutritionally complete liquid diet containing 35% of total calories as either ethanol, or (for the controls) an isocaloric amount of glucose. After 6 weeks of treatment, the feeding regime induced skeletal muscle myopathy as characterised by reductions in muscle weight and RNA content.
