Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Successful treatment of low‐risk myelodysplastic syndrome‐related anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease with daprodustat: A report of two cases

open access: yeseJHaem
Anemia is a major clinical manifestation seen in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). Treatment options for anemia in low‐risk MDS are limited. Especially, oral medication which is uniformly effective for anemia in low‐risk MDS is required. Hypoxia‐inducible

Control of T-cell immunity by fatty acid metabolism [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Pediatric Endocrinology & Metabolism
Fatty acids play critical roles in maintaining the cellular functions of T cells and regulating T-cell immunity. This review synthesizes current research on the influence of fatty acids on T-cell subsets, including CD8+ T cells, TH1, TH17, Treg ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Peripheral cytokine responses to Trichuris muris reflect those occurring locally at the site of infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The study of human cellular immune responses to parasite infection under field conditions is very complex. Often, the only practical site from which to sample the cellular responses is the peripheral blood.

In vivo OVA-specific Cytotoxic CD8+ T Cell Killing Assay

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2016
Cytotoxic CD8+ T cells are responsible for the lysis of cells expressing peptides associated with MHC class I molecules and derived from infection with a pathogen or from mutated antigens.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

A novel soluble immune-type receptor (SITR) in teleost fish: carp SITR is involved in the nitric oxide-mediated response to a protozoan parasite

open access: yes, 2011
Background- The innate immune system relies upon a wide range of germ-line encoded receptors including a large number of immunoglobulin superfamily (IgSF) receptors.

Autophagy in the regulation of protein secretion in immune cells

open access: yes, 2020
Protein secretion, a universal cellular feature, plays fundamental roles in innate and adaptive immunity. Indeed, the functional and phenotypic characterization of immune cells (e.g., effector lymphocytes or macrophages) entail quantitative and ...
