Interaction between microbiota and immunity in health and disease
The interplay between the commensal microbiota and the mammalian immune system development and function includes multifold interactions in homeostasis and disease. The microbiome plays critical roles in the training and development of major components of

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Immunomodulatory Effects and Protection in Sepsis by the Antibiotic Moxifloxacin
Sepsis is a leading cause of death in Intensive Care Units. Despite its prevalence, sepsis remains insufficiently understood, with no substantial qualitative improvements in its treatment in the past decades.

Nuclear prothymosin α inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung cancer by increasing Smad7 acetylation and competing with Smad2 for binding to SNAI1, TWIST1, and ZEB1 promoters. In early‐stage cancer, ProT suppresses TGF‐β‐induced EMT, while its loss in the nucleus in late‐stage cancer leads to enhanced EMT and poor prognosis.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections become chronic in the majority of infected individuals, and chronic hepatitis C (CHC) can lead to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. The innate immune system is central to host-virus interactions during the entire natural course of the disease.

Innate immunity and remodelling [PDF]
A wide variety of cardiac disease states can induce remodelling and lead to the functional consequence of heart failure. These complex disease states involve a plethora of parallel signal transduction events, which may be associated with tissue injury or tissue repair.

Flavivirus Nonstructural Protein NS5 Dysregulates HSP90 to Broadly Inhibit JAK/STAT Signaling
Pathogenic flaviviruses antagonize host cell Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT) signaling downstream of interferons α/β. Here, we show that flaviviruses inhibit JAK/STAT signaling induced by a wide range of cytokines
