Targeting human Acyl-CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase as a dual viral and T cell metabolic checkpoint
Shared metabolic pathways could allow simultaneous manipulation of T cells, viruses and tumours. Here the authors show targeting cholesterol esterification restrains hepatitis B in vitro, whilst bolstering exhausted antigen-specific T cell responses from

A gB/MF59 vaccine candidate for human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) provided partial protection in organ transplant patients. Here, the authors identify antibody responses in trial participants that target virally infected cells to control cell-to-cell spread ...

Blockade of CD28 costimulation with CTLA-4-Ig/Abatacept is used to dampen effector T cell responses in autoimmune and transplantation settings. However, a significant drawback of this approach is impaired regulatory T cell homeostasis that requires CD28 ...

Comparison of antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 variants in Australian children
Despite a rise in COVID-19 cases among children, there is limited understanding of the antibody responses mounted, compared to in adults. In this work, authors compare seroconversion rates and antibody responses in unvaccinated Australian children across

Oxylipin metabolism is controlled by mitochondrial β-oxidation during bacterial inflammation
Oxylipins are lipid mediators generated during infection for regulating inflammatory responses, but how they are removed is not completely clear. Here the authors show that cellular oxylipin removal is linked to mitochondria β-oxidation by CPT1, a ...
