Elevated serum immunoglobulin E level as a marker for progression of immunoglobulin A nephropathy

open access: yesKidney Research and Clinical Practice, 2016
Background: Immunoglobulin E (IgE) has traditionally been associated with anaphylaxis and atopic disease. Previous studies reported that serum IgE levels are elevated in nephrotic syndrome and suggested IgE levels as a prognostic indicator in glomerular ...

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating effects of the bacterial lysate in the in vivo models of aseptic lymphadenitis and pneumococcal pneumonia

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология, 2020
Bacterial lysates may produce immunoregulatory effects in the inflammatory diseases that are not directly caused by infectious agents; they may also stimulate the immune response against pathogens which are not a part of the lysate composition.

Expression of interleukin 2 receptors on activated human B cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Using anti-Tac, a monoclonal anti-interleukin 2 (IL-2) receptor antibody, we have explored the possibility that certain activated B cells display receptors for IL-2.

Inhibition by small-molecule ligands of formation of amyloid fibrils of an immunoglobulin light chain variable domain. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Overproduction of immunoglobulin light chains leads to systemic amyloidosis, a lethal disease characterized by the formation of amyloid fibrils in patients' tissues. Excess light chains are in equilibrium between dimers and less stable monomers which can

The ACCEPTance of automation: refining circulating tumor cells enumeration for improved metastatic colorectal cancer prognosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study highlights the potential of automated enumeration using the ACCEPT software to refine circulating tumor cell (CTC) detection in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). The automated method demonstrates improved accuracy and reduced variability compared to the manual approach.

Trispecific SEED antibodies engineered for neutrophil-mediated cell killing

open access: yesmAbs
Immunoglobulin (Ig) A has attracted interest as a proposed therapeutic agent due to its ability to engage cell groups differently compared to an IgG scaffold and elicit tumor eradication.

Effects of Feeding Probiotics on the Localization of Cells Containing Immunoreactive Interleukin-6 in the Intestine of Broiler Chicks

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2010
The aim of this study was to examine whether treatments of chicks with probiotics affect the population of cells containing interleukin-6 (IL-6) and IgA in the intestine of broiler chicks.
