Serum Immunoglobulins, Pneumonia Risk, and Lung Function in Middle-Aged and Older Individuals: A Population-Based Cohort Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
IntroductionImmunoglobulins (Igs) play a pivotal role in host defense and prevention of pneumonia. Aging influences serum Ig levels, but the association between Igs and pneumonia in community-dwelling older individuals remains unknown.

Association of Immunoglobulin Levels, Infectious Risk, and Mortality With Rituximab and Hypogammaglobulinemia

open access: yesJAMA Network Open, 2018
Key Points Question In patients receiving rituximab, what are the current rates of screening and recognition of hypogammaglobulinemia, and what are the infectious risks and predictors for increased mortality?

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Pathogenic Immunoglobulin A-Producing Cells in Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Medicine
Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) is the most prevalent primary glomerular disease worldwide and it remains a leading cause of kidney failure. Clinical manifestations of IgA are exacerbated by infections, and emerging data suggest that aberrant mucosal immune responses are important contributors to the immunopathogenesis of this disease. However, the

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Functional immunoglobulin transgenes guide ordered B-cell differentiation in Rag-1-deficient mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
We have examined the regulatory role of the individual components of the immunoglobulin antigen receptor in B-cell development by transgenic complementation of Rag-1 deficient (Rag-1⁻) mice. Complementation with a membrane µ heavy chain (µHC) gene allows

Artery tertiary lymphoid organs control multi-layered territorialized atherosclerosis B cell responses in aged ApoE-/- mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Objective: Explore aorta B cell immunity in aged ApoE-/- mice. Approach and Results: Transcript maps, FACS, immunofluorescence analyses, cell transfers, and Ig-ELISPOT assays showed multi-layered atherosclerosis B cell responses in artery tertiary ...

Elevated serum immunoglobulin E level as a marker for progression of immunoglobulin A nephropathy

open access: yesKidney Research and Clinical Practice, 2016
Background: Immunoglobulin E (IgE) has traditionally been associated with anaphylaxis and atopic disease. Previous studies reported that serum IgE levels are elevated in nephrotic syndrome and suggested IgE levels as a prognostic indicator in glomerular ...

Immunoglobulin A pemphigus associated with immunoglobulin A gammopathy and lung cancer

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, 2008
ABSTRACTImmunoglobulin (Ig)A pemphigus is a rare disease marked by a vesiculopustular eruption characterized by intercellular IgA deposition in the epidermis. It has clinical and histopathological heterogeneity and encompasses two subgroups: subcorneal pustular dermatosis type and intraepidermal neutrophilic IgA dermatosis type.

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.
