Normal distribution of immunoglobulin isotypes in adult horses

The Veterinary Journal, 2009
Studies focusing on the equine humoral response are scarce, with a bias towards the pre- and post-parturition mare and its foal. The present study attempted to expand current knowledge by establishing normal ranges for adult horse serum isotypes. Immunoglobulin (Ig) concentrations were obtained by screening 47 horses of various breeds and in different ...

Isotypes in Human Immunoglobulin λ-Chains

Nature New Biology, 1971
IMMUNOGLOBULIN polypeptide chains consist of a variable N-terminal region and a constant C-terminal part1. The variability of the N-terminal part is due to multiple amino-acid exchanges and deletions, which can be arranged into chemically distinct subgroups2–9.

Lymphokine Control of In Vivo Immunoglobulin Isotype Selection

Annual Review of Immunology, 1990
Several specific conclusions can be drawn from these studies: 1. IL-4 is required for the generation of both primary polyclonal and secondary antigen-specific IgE responses in vivo. 2. IL-4 is required to maintain established, ongoing, antigen-specific and polyclonal IgE responses. 3.

Mechanism and Regulation of Immunoglobulin Isotype Switching

1993
Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on the molecular mechanisms of switch recombination and other possible modes of isotype switching. It discusses the regulation of isotype switching, especially by T cells and the cytokines they produce. Virtually all of the analyses of the mechanisms and regulation of switching are done in either mouse or human,

Slide immunoenzymatic assay for immunoglobulin isotype (SIA-Ig)

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1984
A simple method is described for rapid determination of immunoglobulin class and subclass in an assortment of samples based on the slide immunoenzymatic assay (SIA-Ig). Each circle on a multi-circle glass slide is coated with anti-immunoglobulin class or subclass antibody. For each isotype to be assayed a circle is coated with its specific anti-isotype.

Immunoglobulin isotype knowledge and application to Fc engineering

Current Opinion in Immunology, 2016
Monoclonal antibody-based drugs continue to be one of the most rapidly growing classes of therapeutic molecules. At present, the majority of approved therapeutic antibodies are of the human IgG1 format, which can elicit immune effector functions (e.g., antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity, antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis, and complement ...

Biosynthesis of immunoglobulin isotypes in human periapical lesions

Journal of Endodontics, 1980
Periapical lesions from five patients were incubated with radioactive amino acids ( 14 C isoleucine and 14 C lysine). Immunoglobulin synthesis was detected by autoradiography of an immunoelectrophoretic pattern. IgG and IgA were synthesized in vitro by lymphocytes from all of the periapical lesions studied.

Allotypic and isotypic aspects of human immunoglobulin A

Molecular Immunology, 1983
The location of isotypic, isoallotypic and allotypic determinants is reviewed in the light of data obtained when specific antisera are tested with proteolytic fragments of IgA molecules or mutants of IgA obtained from patients with alpha-heavy chain disease. Isotypic determinants are distributed throughout the alpha chain constant regions although when

Immunoglobulin Isotype Modulation after Administration of IL-12

1995
We have begun a series of experiments assessing the role of IL-12 in the humoral immune response. IL-12 is known to enhance cellular immunity causing a shift toward a Th1, as opposed to a Th2, response. IL-12 is also a potent stimulator of IFN-gamma production which, among other activities, modulates isotype expression particularly with respect to ...
