Novel Laboratory Approaches in Heavy Chain Disease With Discordant Immunoglobulin Quantitation: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 40, Issue 9, May 2026.
In this study, we investigated a rare case of γ‐heavy chain disease (γ‐HCD) through an integrated laboratory approach. Routine protein analyses (serum protein electrophoresis, immunotyping, and serum/urine immunofixation) identified an IgG monoclonal component without detectable light chains.

Efferocytosis: Signaling Pathways and New Therapeutic Strategies for Diseases

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
1. Efferocytosis coordinates molecular signaling and metabolic reprogramming to resolve inflammation. 2. Efferocytosis dysfunction underlies four conserved pathological hallmarks across diseases. 3. Therapeutic strategies targeting efferocytosis should be context‐dependent: enhance or inhibit based on disease type. ABSTRACT Efferocytosis—the phagocytic

A Tutorial on Bayesian Multi‐Study Factor Analysis With Applications in Nutrition and Genomics

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 10-12, May 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐dimensional data are crucial in biomedical research. Integrating such data from multiple studies is a critical process that relies on the choice of advanced statistical models, enhancing statistical power, reproducibility, and scientific insight compared to analyzing each study separately.

Gaining insights into MmpL3: combining structural and computational approaches to unlock transport and inhibitor‐binding mechanisms

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 82, Issue 5, Page 550-570, May 2026.
This study investigates the mycobacterial membrane protein MmpL3, a key target for new antituberculosis drugs, by combining high‐resolution crystallography and computational simulations. It reveals how the inhibitor UPAR‐1109 binds to MmpL3, providing detailed insights into the function and flexibility of the protein and supporting the rational design ...
