Persistence of anti-HBs and immunologic memory in children immunized with hepatitis B vaccine

open access: yesBangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Journal, 2023
Background:  We aimed to examine the persistence of anti-HBs in Bangladeshi children aged 5 and 10 years after primary vaccination, and this response to a booster dose. Methods: A total of 100 children were enrolled who were divided into two groups (A

Tuberculosis preventive therapy in postpartum women with HIV modifies M. tuberculosis-specific and nonspecific immune responses

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundTuberculosis (TB) has significant morbidity in pregnant and postpartum women with HIV (pregnant and PPWWHIV). TB preventive therapy (TPT) is recommended in pregnant and PPWWHIV with documented or presumed latent TB infection (LTBI).

STING agonism enhances anti-tumor immune responses and therapeutic efficacy of PARP inhibition in BRCA-associated breast cancer

open access: yesnpj Breast Cancer, 2022
Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors exert their efficacy via synthetic lethal effects and by inducing cGAS/STING-mediated immune responses. We demonstrate that compared to monotherapies, combined PARP inhibition and STING agonism results in ...

High MMP-11 expression associated with low CD8+ T cells decreases the survival rate in patients with breast cancer.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Matrix metalloproteinase-11 (MMP-11) promote cancer invasion and metastasis through degrading the extracellular matrix. Protein degradation by MMP-11 in tumor cells may progressively suppress cancer surveillance activities with blocking immune response ...

Immune microenvironment modulation unmasks therapeutic benefit of radiotherapy and checkpoint inhibition

open access: yesJournal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer, 2019
Background Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for solid tumors, including those targeting programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) and cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4), have shown impressive clinical efficacy, however, most patients do not ...

Prolidase deficiency, a rare inborn error of immunity, clinical phenotypes, immunological features, and proposed treatments in twins

open access: yesAllergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology, 2022
Background Prolidase deficiency (PD) is an autosomal recessive inborn multisystemic disease caused by mutations in the PEPD gene encoding the enzyme prolidase D, leading to defects in turnover of proline-containing proteins, such as collagen.

On immunological memory

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series B: Biological Sciences, 2000
Immunological memory may not represent a special characteristic of lymphocytes but simply reflect lowlevel responses driven by antigen that is re–encountered or persists within the host. T–cell memory is important to control persistent infections within the individual host and cannot be transmitted to offspring because of MHC polymorphism and MHC ...

Atypical Resting-State Functional Connectivity Dynamics Correlate With Early Cognitive Dysfunction in HIV Infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2021
Purpose: Previous studies have shown that HIV affects striato-cortical regions, leading to persisting cognitive impairment in 30–70% of the infected individuals despite combination antiretroviral therapy.

IMMUNOLOGICAL MEMORY IN VITRO [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Experimental Medicine, 1971
The immune responses to sheep erythrocytes of mouse spleen cell suspensions from immune and nonimmune donors were compared in vitro. In vivo immunity was only transiently reflected in vitro, and 8 wk after in vivo immunization the responses of cultures from immunized and nonimmunized mice were virtually identical.
