Circulating Monocyte-Like Myeloid Derived Suppressor Cells and CD16 Positive Monocytes Correlate With Immunological Responsiveness of Tuberculosis Patients

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2022
Alterations of myeloid cell populations have been reported in patients with tuberculosis (TB). In this work, we studied the relationship between myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) and monocytes subsets with the immunological responsiveness of TB ...

Epigenetic reprogramming of lineage switching in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer cells rarely commit to a single identity. Epigenetic mechanisms and tumor microenvironment cues push epithelial cells toward flexible, hybrid states that can shift into mesenchymal, neuroendocrine, or stem‐like fates, driving metastasis, drug resistance, and tumor heterogeneity. Targeting the epigenetic regulators behind these transitions, using

Early Pro-Inflammatory Signal and T-Cell Activation Associate With Vaccine-Induced Anti-Vaccinia Protective Neutralizing Antibodies

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Both vaccine “take” and neutralizing antibody (nAb) titer are historical correlates for vaccine-induced protection from smallpox. We analyzed a subset of samples from a phase 2a trial of three DNA/HIV-1 primes and a recombinant Tiantan vaccinia virus ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Impact of long-term viral suppression in CD4+ recovery of HIV-children on Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2006
Background The effects of HAART may differ between children and adults because children have a developing immune system, and the long-term immunological outcome in HIV-infected children on HAART is not well-known.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Response assessment of GBM during immunotherapy by delayed contrast treatment response assessment maps

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
IntroductionAssessing the treatment response of glioblastoma multiforme during immunotherapy (IT) is an open issue. Treatment response assessment maps (TRAMs) might help distinguish true tumor progression (TTP) and pseudoprogression (PsP) in this setting.

Asymptomatic HIV-Infected Patients Present Blood Parameters Changed, According to Use of Therapy and the CD4+ T Cells Count

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2022
In HIV-patients, the imbalance in immunological, hematological and biochemical factors can contribute to the progression to AIDS and non-AIDS comorbidities, even during combined antiretroviral therapy (cART).

Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

Immunological Review on Non-responder Phenomenon to Hepatitis B Vaccination

open access: yesCermin Dunia Kedokteran
Hepatitis B vaccine has been highly effective in preventing HBV infection. However, a subset of individuals fails to develop adequate protective antibodies after complete vaccination series (anti-HBs ≥ 10 mIU/mL), termed as non-responders. Non-responder phenomenon is influenced by a complex interplay of genetic, immunological, and environmental factors.
