CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Global impedance control of dual-arm manipulation for safe interaction

open access: yes, 2012
The impedance control of dual-arm 7-DOF cooperative manipulators is considered in this paper. Global compliant behavior for the whole system is achieved using impedance at three levels, i.e. object, end-effector and body level.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Multifrequency methods for Electrical Impedance Tomography

open access: yes, 2015
Multifrequency Electrical Impedance Tomography (MFEIT) is an emerging imaging modality which exploits the dependence of tissue impedance on frequency to recover images of conductivity.

Modal Limit Cycle Control for Variable Stiffness Actuated Robots

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents a control approach to stabilize limit cycle motions along a mechanical mode of variable stiffness actuated (VSA) robots. Thereby, first a PD controller with gravity and Coriolis/centrifugal compensation shapes a desired dynamics ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Safe Acting and Manipulation in Human Environments: A Key Concept for Robots in our Society

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper we review our work on safe acting and manipulation in human environments. In order for a robot to be able to safely interact with its environment it is primary to be able to react to unforeseen events in real-time on basically all levels of

Force and Trajectory Control of Industrial Robots in Stiff Contact

open access: yes, 2013
Position-based force control is presented, incorporating compliance in the robot joints and possibly in a force- / torque-sensor and/or the environment. First, the total compliance is identified.
