O-12 CHARACTERIZATION AND UTILIZATION OF HCV-POSITIVE DONORS IN ARGENTINA
Introduction and Objectives: Increased utilization of hepatitis C virus (HCV)-positive organ donors has been endorsed as one of several ways to combat organ shortages. However, HCV-positive donors remain poorly characterized. This study aimed to evaluate

EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme insertion/deletion polymorphism does not influence the restenosis rate after coronary stent implantation [PDF]
Background. Experimental studies have shown an activation of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) system as a response to endothelial injury. Recent publications have elucidated the hypothesis that the ACE gene polymorphism may influence the level of ...

Impact of Al-ion implantation on the formation of deep defects in n-type 4H-SiC
S.66-69In this work, deep defects in an aluminum implanted 4H-SiC n-type epitaxy are discussed in dependence on following influencing factors: concentration of implanted aluminum, implantation energy, implantation at 500°C and at room temperature, as ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Ion implantation into nanoparticulate functional layers
S.537-540Layers of silicon nanoparticles with resistivity down to 10 mΩcm are demonstrated using chemical and thermal treatment as well as ion implantation. Morphology and crystallinity of the layers are characterized using AFM and XRD.
