Robotic Materials With Bioinspired Microstructures for High Sensitivity and Fast Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the review paper, design rationale and approaches for bioinspired sensors and actuators in robotics applications are presented. These bioinspired microstructure strategies implemented in both can improve the performance in several ways. Also, recent ideas and innovations that embed robotic materials with logic and computation with it are part of the

Non classical velocity statistics in a turbulent atomic Bose Einstein condensate

open access: yes, 2009
In a recent experiment Paoletti et al (Phys. Rev. Lett. 101, 154501, 2008) monitored the motion of tracer particles in turbulent superfluid helium and inferred that the velocity components do not obey the Gaussian statistics observed in ordinary ...

A Supramolecular Ferroelectric With Two Sublattices and Polarization Dependent Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric behavior in a supramolecular material with two, independently switchable, sublattices is demonstrated. The sublattices can be associated with the two dipolar groups in the compound. Moreover, the polarization is found to couple to the charge transport in the material, giving rise to a switchable, directional conductivity.

CHB‐Induced Immune Zonation Chaos Elicited LXRα‐mediated Lipid Metabolism Disorders in Kupffer Cells to Induce Cancer Stem Cell Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By profiling the spatiotemporal hepatic landscape of CHB mouse models, the originally peri‐portal localized KCs migrated to the peri‐central in a CXCL9‐CXCR3‐dependent manner, facilitating their interaction with HBV+ hepatocytes. The interaction promoted LMD in KCs through ASGR1‐induced LXRα degradation, which, in turn, induced CSC formation via Stat3 ...

EFFECTS OF HUMAN IMPRINTING AND TAMING ON TRACTABILITY OF WILD TURKEYS USED FOR RESEARCH

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, 1995
: Imprinting wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) to humans facilitates their use as research subjects but can require a large time investment for the imprinting process.

Atomic Josephson vortex

open access: yes, 2005
We show that Josephson vortices in a quasi-1D atomic Bose Josephson junction can be controllably manipulated by imposing a difference of chemical potentials on the atomic BEC waveguides forming the junction. This effect, which has its origin in the Berry

Navigating the Ethereal Tightrope: The Nanogenerator Manipulates Neurons for Immune Equilibrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores how nanogenerators modulate neuroimmune responses, offering innovative strategies for treating neurological disorders. By interfacing with neural pathways, they enable precise control of immune activity, especially via vagus nerve stimulation.

Análise comparativa entre as metodologias de PCR metilação-específica (MSP), Southern blot (SB) e FISH utilizadas no diagnóstico genético molecular de pacientes com suspeita clínica das síndromes de Prader-Willi ou Angelman

open access: yesClinical and Biomedical Research, 2016
Introdução: Prader-Willi (SPW) e Angelman (SA) são síndromes clinicamente distintas, causadas pela perda de expressão de genes na região cromossômica 15q11.2-q13, de origem paterna ou materna, respectivamente.

Helix Alignment, Chevrons, and Edge Dislocations in Twist‐Bend Ferroelectric Nematics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The recently discovered twist‐bend ferroelectric nematic (NTBF) is the new member of the multiferroic family, representing a fluid with an oblique helicoidal (heliconical) periodic structure of spontaneous electric polarization. The work presents a thorough exploration of the material properties of this phase, how the periodic modulation of ...

Ultrafast Nonlinear Dynamics of Indium Tin Oxide Nanocrystals Probed via Fieldoscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ultrafast nonlinear dynamics of indium tin oxide nanocrystals excited with 1 MHz, 10 fs pulses, at their localized surface plasmon frequency, and near their epsilon‐near‐zero wavelength is probed via fieldoscopy. The study demonstrates fluence‐dependent switching behavior, advancing the understanding of high‐speed optical modulation in plasmonic ...
