Thalidomide-Based PROTACs: A Viable Strategy Against Trypanosomatids?

open access: yesDrugs and Drug Candidates
Background: In recent years, compounds known as Proteolysis Targeted Chimeras (PROTACs) have revitalized the field of bioactive molecule design. These compounds promote proteolysis of therapeutic targets by recruiting them to ubiquitin ligases.

A cost‐effective DNA extraction protocol for long‐read sequencing in non‐model plants

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Third‐generation sequencing has revolutionized genomics, enabling in‐depth analysis of genome sequence, structure, and epigenetic features. Yet, extracting high‐quality DNA for long‐read sequencing remains a bottleneck—particularly in non‐model plants, such as mature trees growing in natural environments, which often contain abundant ...

Peptides, specific proteolysis products, as molecular markers of allergenic proteins - in silico studies.

open access: yesActa scientiarum polonorum. Technologia alimentaria, 2014
The objective of this study was to analyse allergenic proteins by identifying their molecular biomarkers for detection in food using bioinformatics tools. The protein and epitope sequences were from BIOPEP database, proteolysis was simulated using BIOPEP program and UniProt database screening via BLAST and FASTA programs.

PEPITEM Regulates the Synovial Microenvironment During Immune‐Mediated Inflammatory Arthritis to Limit Disease

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Here we investigate the status of the adiponectin–PEPITEM pathway in early, treatment naive rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and the therapeutic efficacy of PEPITEM administration in preclinical models. Methods Peripheral blood was isolated from patients with clinical suspect arthralgia and suspected inflammatory ...

Development and characterization of near-isogenic lines for quantitative trait locus qDT.3B.1 underlying drought tolerance in wheat. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Genome
Abstract Drought is a critical challenge to wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) productivity. The quantitative complexity of drought tolerance makes breeding for this trait difficult. Developing near‐isogenic lines (NILs) targeting quantitative trait locus (QTL) for 1000‐grain weight (TGW) under drought stress can effectively identify key mechanisms and genes.

Multi‐Scale Hybrid Modeling to Predict Cell Culture Process With Metabolic Phase Transitions

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To advance understanding of cellular metabolism and reduce batch‐to‐batch variability in cell culture processes, this study introduces a multi‐scale hybrid modeling framework designed to simulate and predict the dynamic behavior of CHO cell cultures undergoing metabolic phase transitions.

A label free chemoproteomic-based platform to disclose cannabidiol molecular mechanism of action on chronic myelogenous leukemia cancer cells

open access: yesHeliyon
The discovery of the interactome of cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive cannabinoid from Cannabis sativa L., has been here performed on chronic myelogenous leukemia cancer cells, using an optimized chemo-proteomic stage, which links Drug Affinity ...

Protein hydrolysates in cell culture: Toward multi‐omics characterization

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
While protein hydrolysates are widely used in cell culture applications, they remain undefined and variable products. Multi‐omic characterization evaluating composition and function can transition hydrolysates toward semi‐defined media components.

Enzymatic Prenylation of Proteins and Peptides: From Cysteine S‐Prenylation to Tryptophan‐Selective Biocatalysis

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
This review highlights biocatalytic prenylation as a versatile strategy for tailoring the functional properties of peptides and proteins. By comparing branched isoprenoids with linear lipids, we illustrate how specific prenyl architectures modulate the behaviors of lipidated proteins within membrane environments.
