Meat is a rich source of various nutrients. However, it needs processing before consumption, what in turn generates formation of carcinogenic compounds, i.a., polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), nitrosamines (NOCs), and the most mutagenic ...

A microfluidic model for infantile in vitro digestions: Characterization of lactoferrin digestion
We present a miniaturized, flow-through model for infantile in vitro digestions, following up on our previously published in vitro digestive system for adults. Microfluidic 'chaotic' mixers were employed as microreactors to help emulate the biochemical processing going on in the infantile stomach and intestine.

Reconstruction of destruction – in vitro reconstitution methods in autophagy research [PDF]
International audienceAutophagy is one of the most elaborative membrane remodeling systems in eukaryotic cells. Its major function is to recycle cytoplasmic material by delivering it to lysosomes for degradation.

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Predicting methane production in dairy cows [PDF]
Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, to which enteric fermentation from ruminants contributes significantly. Reliable and accurate predictions of methane (CH₄) production from dairy cows would be of interest to develop mitigation strategies and for ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.
