Glucose inhibits cardiac muscle maturation through nucleotide biosynthesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The heart switches its energy substrate from glucose to fatty acids at birth, and maternal hyperglycemia is associated with congenital heart disease. However, little is known about how blood glucose impacts heart formation.

in Vitro Maturation of Human Oocytes

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2006
Immature oocyte retrieval followed by in vitro maturation (IVM) opens a new horizon for modern assisted reproductive technologies (ART). Recent studies in IVM make it a feasible alternative to in vitro fertilization. Antral follicle count is correlated with the pregnancy rate, so women with polycystic ovarian syndrome or polycystic ovaries are the best

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Effect of insulin-like growth factor-1 during in vitro oocyte maturation and in vitro culture of bovine embryos

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2001
The effects of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) on in vitro maturation (IVM) (experiment I) and on in vitro embryo development (experiment II) of bovine oocytes fertilized in vitro, were evaluated in terms of cleavage (CR), blastocyst (BR) and ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

The Influence of the Culture Medium on In Vitro Meiotic Competence of Canine Oocytes

open access: yesScientific Papers Animal Science and Biotechnologies, 2023
Although in carnivores modern breeding biotechnologies have developed particularly over the last 15 years, studies in the bitch oocytes are less than in other species due to the reduced availability of biological material.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Mechanisms involved in the remyelinating effect of sildenafil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Remyelination occurs in demyelinated lesions in multiple sclerosis (MS) and pharmacological treatments that enhance this process will critically impact the long term functional outcome in the disease.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

FSD-C10, a Fasudil derivative, promotes neuroregeneration through indirect and direct mechanisms. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
FSD-C10, a Fasudil derivative, was shown to reduce severity of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), an animal model of multiple sclerosis (MS), through the modulation of the immune response and induction of neuroprotective molecules in the ...
