Combining nitrogen effects and metabolomics to reveal the response mechanisms to nitrogen stress and the potential for nitrogen reduction in maize

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2023
The physiological and metabolic differences in maize under different nitrogen (N) levels are the basis of reasonable N management, which is vital in improving fertilizer utilization and reducing environmental pollution.

Whole Grain Qingke Attenuates High-Fat Diet-Induced Obesity in Mice With Alterations in Gut Microbiota and Metabolite Profile

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2021
Whole grain Qingke (WGQK) displays anti-obesity and lipid-lowering properties; however, the underlying mechanism remains elusive. This study investigated the alteration of gut microbiota composition and metabolite profile induced by WGQK intervention in ...

Siderophore and indolic acid production by Paenibacillus triticisoli BJ-18 and their plant growth-promoting and antimicrobe abilities [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2020
Paenibacillus triticisoli BJ-18, a N2-fixing bacterium, is able to promote plant growth, but the secondary metabolites that may play a role in promoting plant growth have never been characterized.

THE USE OF YEAST MANUFACTURE LIQUID WASTES IN THE PRODUCTION OF BIOFERTILIZERS AND PHYTOHORMONES [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Chemistry and Biotechnology, 2000
The cost and composition of the nutrient medium are considered limiting factors for the production of bacterial inocula. At the same time, baker’s yeast factories get rid of their liquid wastes in River Nile or water drains.

Tryptophan-centered metabolic alterations coincides with lipid-mediated fungal response to cold stress

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Tryptophan and its derived metabolites have been assumed to play important roles in the development and survival of organisms. However, the links of tryptophan and its derived metabolites to temperature change remained largely cryptic.

Promotion of Indoleacetic Acid Oxidase Isoenzymes in Tobacco Callus Cultures by Indoleacetic Acid [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1971
Indoleacetic acid oxidase in tobacco callus cultures (Nicotiana tabacum L., cv. White Gold) was composed of at least two groups of isoenzymes, which were distinctly different in electrophoretic mobilities and in responses to growth substances. Indoleacetic acid had dual effects; at low concentrations it promoted the development of two fast-migrating ...

Constitutive Expression of OsGH3.1 Reduces Auxin Content and Enhances Defense Response and Resistance to a Fungal Pathogen in Rice

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2009
GH3 genes are main components of the hormonal mechanism regulating growth and development and, hence, are deeply involved in a broad range of physiological processes.

Formation of indoleacetic acid by intestinal anaerobes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1975
Indoleacetic acid was produced from tryptophan by only three of 23 intestinal anaerobes studied. Evidence is presented to show that the formation of indoleacetic acid proceeds through the intermediate, indolepyruvic acid, via transamination with alpha-ketoglutarate rather than by tryptamine pathway.

Association between Tryptophan Metabolism and Inflammatory Biomarkers in Dairy Cows with Ketosis

open access: yesMetabolites, 2023
Dairy cows with ketosis have high circulating beta-hydroxybutyric acid (BHBA) concentrations alongside which inflammation is concomitantly developed.
