Body mass index and age correlate with antioxidant supplementation effects on sperm quality: Post hoc analyses from a double-blind placebo-controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Spermatozoa are vulnerable to lack of energy and oxidative stress as a result of elevated levels of reactive oxygen species. Therefore, it is essential that appropriate nutrients are available during maturation.

The multidrug and toxin extrusion (MATE) transporter DTX51 antagonizes non‐cell‐autonomous HLS1–AMP1 signaling in a region‐specific manner

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Arabidopsis mutants hls1 hlh1 and amp1 lamp1 exhibit pleiotropic developmental phenotypes. Although the functions of the causative genes remain unclear, they act in the same genetic pathway and are thought to generate non‐cell‐autonomous signals.

Effect of metabolic and antioxidant supplementation on sperm parameters in oligo-astheno-teratozoospermia, with and without varicocele: a double-blind placebo-controlled study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Since sperm require high energy levels to perform their specialised function, it is vital that essential nutrients are available for spermatozoa when they develop, capacitate and acquire motility.

Early metastasis is characterized by Gr1+ cell dysregulation and is inhibited by immunomodulatory nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.

Embryos With “No Result” After PGT-A: A Retrospective Analysis of Causative Factors

open access: yesObstetrics and Gynecology International
Conclusion: No clear embryo-related risk factors could be elucidated; however, the biopsy procedure and sample cellularity seem to be crucial components.

Embryo donation parents' attitudes towards donors : comparison with adoption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
BACKGROUND: Embryo donation produces a family structure where neither rearing parent is genetically related to the child, as in adoption. It is not known how embryo donation parents view the donors compared with how adoptive parents view the birth ...

Dose‐dependent induction of epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in 3D melanoma models by non‐thermal plasma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐thermal plasma treatment of melanoma cells induced epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in a dose‐dependent fashion. This report highlights the critical need to further investigate potential adverse effects of non‐thermal plasma for cancer therapy and to optimize treatment parameters for clinical translation. Despite the promising results of non‐

Comparison of Day 14 Serum Progesterone Level Based on Pregnancy Outcome in Patients Undergoing Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection Cycles [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Kerman University of Medical Sciences, 2015
Background & Aims: Serum progesterone level (as early as 4 weeks gestation) reflects the relation between embryo and corpus luteum. The purpose of the present study was to compare serum progesterone level on day 14 after embryo transfer among 3 groups of

Assessment of questionnaires measuring quality of life in infertile couples: A systematic review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Infertility has potentially inappropriate effects on quality of life in infertile couples. Various general and specific questionnaires have been structured for assessing different aspects of quality of life in infertile men, women, or couples.
