Sperm chromatin dispersion test before sperm preparation is predictive of clinical pregnancy in cases of unexplained infertility treated with intrauterine insemination and induction with clomiphene citrate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background/aims: A large proportion of men with normal sperm results as analyzed using conventional techniques have fragmented DNA in their spermatozoa.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Which transfer day results in the highest live birth rate for PCOS patients undergoing in vitro fertilization?

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2023
Background Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has unusual levels of hormones. The hormone receptors in the endometrium have a hostile effect and make the microenvironment unfavorable for embryo implantation.

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Predictive factors of aneuploidy in infertile patients undergoing IVF: a retrospective analysis in a private IVF practice

open access: yesMiddle East Fertility Society Journal
Background PGT-A has become an important part of IVF treatments. Despite its increased use, there are contradicting results on its role in improving reproductive outcomes of ART cycles.

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Risk of cancer after assisted reproduction: a review of the available evidences and guidance to fertility counselors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Infertile women requiring ovarian stimulation and assisted reproduction techniques (ART) are faced with difficult issues. The fear that using hormones could increase their risk of cancer is the most significant.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Testicular expression of TDRD1, TDRD5, TDRD9 and TDRD12 in azoospermia. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND: Tudor domain-containing proteins (TDRDs) play a critical role in piRNA biogenesis and germ cell development. piRNAs, small regulatory RNAs, act by silencing of transposons during germline development and it has recently been shown in animal ...
