Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

The inflammatory and hemostatic cardiovascular risk markers during acute hyperglycemic crisis in type 1 and type 2 diabetes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Biochemistry, 2019
Background: We analyzed cardiovascular inflammatory (Creactive protein (CRP), interleukin 6 (IL-6)), haemostatic (homocysteine) risk markers in lean and obese patients at admission and acute hyperglicemic crisis (AHC) resolving, involving diabetic ...

Diagnostic and Prognostic Significance of Inflammatory Markers in Lung Cancer-Associated Pleural Effusions

open access: yesThe International Journal of Biological Markers, 2010
Besides massive expression in inflammatory pleural effusions, inflammatory markers are also present in cancer-induced pleural effusions. Recent advances in cancer biology point to a role of inflammatory signaling in cancer and encourage reconsidering the

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Assessment of inflammatory markers, disease severity and comorbidities in very elderly patients with acute respiratory diseases

open access: yes, 2020
Introduction The study aimed to evaluate the potential role of inflammatory markers (neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR), platelet to mean platelet volume (PLT/MPV), C-reactive protein (CRP), CRP/albumin) and ...

Correlation of sputum inflammatory markers with severity and blood inflammatory markers in bronchiectasis

open access: yesJournal of Thoracic Disease
As a disease characterized by chronic neutrophilic inflammation, various sputum biomarkers have been investigated in the association with the severity and prognosis of bronchiectasis. However, there is lack of data on the association between sputum interleukin-1beta (IL-1β), interleukin-8 (IL-8) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) levels at ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Assessment of inflammatory markers in otosclerosis patients

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology, 2020
Otosclerosis is an idiopathic disease characterized by new bone formation in foci of the human otic capsule. It is more common in Caucasian populations; affecting females twice as often as males. Its etiopathogenesis has not yet been fully elucidated. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between otosclerosis and white blood cell and

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified
