Molecular diagnosis of inherited platelet disorder via a targeted whole-exome virtual gene panel: a 5-year institutional experience

open access: yesResearch and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis
Background: Inherited platelet disorders represent a prevalent but inadequately understood subset of bleeding diatheses, often with elusive causative genetics. The low rate of molecular diagnoses highlights the critical need for advanced genetic tools to

Dynamic Observation of Lacy Pattern Formation in a Bone Tissue Model Using Liquid Phase Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we establish a low‐dose liquid‐phase electron microscopy workflow for real‐time observation of biological processes in hydrated conditions. Beam damage is reduced by imaging only 20% of the pixels and reconstructing the complete image using an inpainting algorithm.

Advancing Human Skin Equivalents: The Crucial Role of Neurovascular Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review discusses the importance of integrating vascular and peripheral nerve systems into human skin equivalents (HSEs) to better recapitulate native skin physiology. Recent advances in vascularized, innervated, and neurovascularized HSEs are highlighted, together with emerging bioengineering strategies, current challenges, and future ...

Self‐Healing Hydrogel‐Enabled Modular Assembly of Bilayered Skin Construct for Hair Follicle Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐healing assembly of two cell‐laden hydrogel layers creates a biomimetic skin construct that restores both dermal and epidermal functions, resulting in accelerated wound healing and enhanced hair follicle regeneration in a full‐thickness skin wound model. ABSTRACT Alopecia remains a pervasive clinical challenge, largely owing to the limited ability

In Vivo Monitoring of Thrombo‐Inflammatory Biomarkers via Molecularly Imprinted Polymer‐Integrated Hydrogel Microneedles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A wearable electrochemical microneedle patch integrates Prussian Blue redox transduction with molecularly imprinted polymer recognition for reagent‐free sampling and detection of thrombo‐inflammatory biomarkers in dermal interstitial fluid. The platform tracks thrombin and inflammatory cytokines with sensitive in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo performance,

Acquired platelet disorders

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
Platelets are essential to primary hemostasis, and defects in their number or function can lead to clinically significant bleeding or thrombosis. Acquired platelet disorders are far more common than the inherited forms and arise in a wide range of ...
