From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Associatively-mediated stopping: training stimulus-specific inhibitory control

open access: yes, 2015
This is the author accepted manuscript. The final version is available from Springer Verlag via the DOI in this record.Response inhibition is often considered to be a deliberate act of cognitive control. However, our and other research suggests that by

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Effects of third-language learning on inhibitory control with consideration of task complexity and language proficiency

open access: yes, 2021
Aims and Objectives: The present study explores the question of whether learning a third language (L3) in an English as a foreign language (EFL) classroom setting induces improved inhibitory control compared with that found in bilinguals, considering ...

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Rapid, learning-induced inhibitory synaptogenesis in murine barrel field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The structure of neurons changes during development and in response to injury or alteration in sensory experience. Changes occur in the number, shape, and dimensions of dendritic spines together with their synapses. However, precise data on these changes

Music–L2 transfer through executive functions: a narrative review with a focus on inhibitory control

open access: yesActa Academiae Beregsasiensis, Philologica
Extant literature suggests that musical training may enhance second-language (L2) acquisition and instructed L2 learning, with musically trained individuals often outperforming their peers in tasks requiring inhibitory control (IC).

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Inhibitory Autophosphorylation of CaMKII Controls PSD Association, Plasticity, and Learning

open access: yes, 2002
To investigate the function of the α calcium-calmodulin-dependent kinase II (αCaMKII) inhibitory autophosphorylation at threonines 305 and/or 306, we generated knockin mice that express αCaMKII that cannot undergo inhibitory phosphorylation. In addition,

A modeling study of generation mechanism of cell assembly to store information about hand recognition

open access: yesHeliyon, 2020
A specific memory is stored in a cell assembly that is activated during fear learning in mice; however, research regarding cell assemblies associated with procedural and habit learning processes is lacking.
