Excitatory postsynaptic potentials in rat neocortical neurons in vitro. III. Effects of a quinoxalinedione non-NMDA receptor antagonist [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
1. Intracellular microelectrodes were used to obtain recordings from neurons in layer II/III of rat frontal cortex. A bipolar electrode positioned in layer IV of the neocortex was used to evoke postsynaptic potentials.

Path‐Decoupled Cation‐Eutaxy III–V van der Waals Memristive Semiconductors for Mitigating the Neuromorphic Accuracy‐Energy Trade‐off

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Path‐decoupled III–V van der Waals memtransistors spatially separate ionic and electronic transport to overcome the conventional trade‐off between accuracy and energy in neuromorphic hardware. Mobile K+ ions in the vdW gaps set a wide conductance window, Gmax/Gmin, while gate‐tunable hole conduction lowers programming energy, enabling reliable ...

Nanodiamonds-induced effects on neuronal firing of mouse hippocampal microcircuits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Fluorescent nanodiamonds (FND) are carbon-based nanomaterials that can efficiently incorporate optically active photoluminescent centers such as the nitrogen-vacancy complex, thus making them promising candidates as optical biolabels and drug-delivery ...

Temporal and Cell‐Specific Regulation of Synaptic Homeostasis by the Chromatin Remodeler Chd1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chd1, the Drosophila homologue of mammalian CHD2 ‐ a gene linked to autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disability, is required for synaptic homeostatic plasticity. Chd1 in glia is necessary for the rapid induction of synaptic homeostasis, whereas Chd1 in motoneurons, muscle, and glia is critical for long‐term maintenance.

Postsynaptic GABA(B) Receptors Contribute to the Termination of Giant Depolarizing Potentials in CA3 Neonatal Rat Hippocampus

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2017
During development, hippocampal CA3 network generates recurrent population bursts, so-called Giant Depolarizing Potentials (GDPs). GDPs are characterized by synchronous depolarization and firing of CA3 pyramidal cells followed by afterhyperpolarization ...

Effects of Milnacipran on the Inhibitory Postsynaptic Potential in Neurons of the Rat Locus Coeruleus

open access: yesThe Kurume Medical Journal, 2004
Effects of milnacipran (MIL), a serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), on synaptic transmission were examined in the rat locus coeruleus (LC). Bath-application of MIL produced a hyperpolarization associated with a decrease in input resistance of LC neurons.

Nanoscale Molecular Reorganization of the Inhibitory Postsynaptic Density Is a Determinant of GABAergic Synaptic Potentiation [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Neuroscience, 2017
Gephyrin is a key scaffold protein mediating the anchoring of GABAA receptors at inhibitory synapses. Here, we exploited superresolution techniques combined with proximity-based clustering analysis and model simulations to investigate the single-molecule gephyrin reorganization during plasticity of inhibitory synapses in mouse hippocampal cultured ...

Paternal Circadian Disruption Impairs Offspring Cognition via Sperm microRNAs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Paternal circadian disruption remodels the sperm small RNA payload, elevating miR‐92a‐3p/miR‐25‐3p levels and perturbing early embryonic gene regulatory programs. Microinjection experiments and single‐embryo transcriptomics reveal sex‐specific developmental vulnerabilities, ultimately impairing offspring hippocampal synaptic plasticity and cognition ...
