Melatonin Modulates the GABAergic Response in Cultured Rat Hippocampal Neurons
In the present study, we investigated the effect of melatonin on the GABA-induced current (IGABA) and GABAergic miniature inhibitory postsynaptic currents (mIPSCs) in cultured rat hippocampal neurons using the whole-cell patch-clamp technique.

Presynaptic M1 muscarinic cholinoceptors mediate inhibition of excitatory synaptic transmission in the hippocampus in vitro [PDF]
The effects of the cholinoceptor agonist, carbachol (CCh), were examined in the rat hippocampal slice preparation. Intracellular recordings from CA1 pyramidal neurones revealed that CCh (1–3 μM) inhibited excitatory postsynaptic responses evoked by ...

Photo‐rewritable ambipolar organic synapses operating in aqueous environments at low voltage (≤0.4 V) demonstrate bidirectional optical plasticity through photon‐modulated electrochemical doping. The bulk heterojunction device enables both excitatory and inhibitory responses with extended retention time (>130 min).

The effect of heterogeneity on decorrelation mechanisms in spiking neural networks: a neuromorphic-hardware study [PDF]
High-level brain function such as memory, classification or reasoning can be realized by means of recurrent networks of simplified model neurons. Analog neuromorphic hardware constitutes a fast and energy efficient substrate for the implementation of ...

A fully flexible ion‐gel‐gated graphene‐channel transistor driven by a triboelectric nanogenerator enables self‐powered tactile sensing and synaptic learning. Mimicking spike‐rate‐dependent plasticity, the device exhibits frequency‐selective potentiation and depression, supporting rate‐coded neuromorphic computation even under flex.

Depolarizing effect of neocortical chandelier neurons
Chandelier (or axo-axonic) cells are one of the most distinctive types of GABAergic interneurons in the cortex. Although they have traditionally been considered inhibitory neurons, data from rat and human neocortical preparations suggest that chandelier ...
