Fetal intraperitoneal injection of immunoglobulin diminishes alloimmune hemolysis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Perinatology, 2011
We report a case of severe fetal anemia associated with maternal anti-M antibody that was treated by direct injection of pooled human immunoglobulin into the fetal abdominal cavity. Four treatments at a dosage of 2 g per-kg estimated fetal body weight were performed, and no side effects were observed. A healthy baby girl was delivered transvaginally at

Evaluation of behavior in transgenic mouse models to understand human congenital pain conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
BACKGROUND: Containing a brain for signal processing and decision making, and a peripheral component for sensation and response, the nervous system provides higher organisms a powerful method of interacting with their environment.

Eco‐Fabricated Nanowave‐Textured Implants Drive Microtubule‐Assisted Nuclear Mechanotransduction and Chromatin Modification: Biophysical Priming for Osteogenesis and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Eco‐friendly nanowave‐textured implants produced via femtosecond laser fabrication enhance bone regeneration by orchestrating a precise mechanotransduction cascade. This nanotopography directs mesenchymal stem cell alignment and cytoskeletal organization, triggering changes in nuclear shape and chromatin acetylation that prime cells for osteogenesis ...

Roles of α-Adrenoceptors and Sympathetic Nerve in Acute Herpetic Pain Induced by Herpes Simplex Virus Inoculation in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2003
Percutaneous inoculation with herpes simplex virus type-1 brings about herpes zoster-like skin lesions, tactile allodynia, and mechanical hyperalgesia in mice.

High‐Throughput Microfluidic‐Mediated Assembly of Layer‐By‐Layer Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of polymer films on nanoparticle (NP) surfaces is a promising technique for targeted drug delivery. Despite its success in preclinical mouse models, a current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) compliant, clinical‐scale production method has been lacking.

Increased expression and activity of p75NTR are crucial events in azacitidine-induced cell death in prostate cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The high affinity nerve growth factor (NGF) NGF receptor, p75NTR, is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily that shares a conserved intracellular death domain capable of inducing apoptosis and suppressing growth in prostate ...

Synthetic Strategy for mRNA Encapsulation and Gene Delivery with Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research utilizes the ZIF‐8 for the encapsulation and intracellular delivery of nucleic acids, specifically mRNA, for applications in gene delivery. Integrating PEI addresses the issue of mRNA leakage from ZIF‐8, resulting in the delivery and expression of green fluorescent protein (GFP) in vitro and firefly luciferase in vivo.
