Isolated mouse inner cell mass is unable to reconstruct trophectoderm

Differentiation, 2011
The ability of ICM to differentiate into TE is still a controversial issue. Many of authors have showed the reconstruction of TE from isolated ICMs. We showed that immunosurgical method is not 100% efficient and that the original TE cells very often remain on the surface of isolated ICMs.

Birth weight is associated with inner cell mass grade of blastocysts

Fertility and Sterility, 2015
To determine the relationship between blastocyst growth parameters and birth weight.Cohort study.University-affiliated fertility center. In vitro patients who delivered a singleton after a single-blastocyst transfer.None.Birth weight adjusted for gestational age at delivery and gender, with adjusted birth weight examined for association with blastocyst ...

Morphology of isolated mouse inner cell masses developing in vitro

Developmental Biology, 1978
Abstract The purpose of this study was to examine the developmental capacity of the mouse inner cell mass (ICM) in the absence of the trophoblast. ICMs were isolated from blastocysts by immunosurgery and cultured under conditions that support egg cylinder formation by intact blastocysts.

Outgrowth promoting factor for the inner cell mass of the mouse blastocyst

Developmental Biology, 1978
Abstract When cultured individually, isolated inner cell masses (ICMs) of the mouse blastocyst form an outer layer of endoderm and remain in suspension as spherical structures for several days. Conditioned media from certain teratocarcinoma- and blastocyst-derived cell lines contain one or more outgrowth promoting factors (OPF) which facilitate ...

Energy metabolism of the trophectoderm and inner cell mass of the mouse blastocyst

Journal of Experimental Zoology, 1993
AbstractThe two cell populations of the day 5 mouse blastocyst–the inner cell mass (ICM) and trophectoderm (TE)–were isolated by immunosurgery and TE biopsy. The uptake of glucose and pyruvate and the production of lactate were measured in the isolated cell populations and in single day 5 blastocysts, using a non‐invasive ultramicrofluorescence ...

Horse Embryonic Stem Cell Lines from the Proliferation of Inner Cell Mass Cells

Stem Cells and Development, 2006
Inner cell mass (ICM) cells were isolated immunosurgically from day 7-8 horse blastocysts and, after proliferation in vitro for 15-28 passages, three lines of cells were confirmed to be embryonic stem (ES) cells by their continued expression of alkaline phosphatase activity and their ability to bind antisera specific for the recognized stem cell ...

Gene expression profiles of human inner cell mass cells and embryonic stem cells

Differentiation, 2009
Human embryonic stem cell (hESC) lines are derived from the inner cell mass (ICM) of preimplantation human blastocysts obtained on days 5-6 following fertilization. Based on their derivation, they were once thought to be the equivalent of the ICM. Recently, however, studies in mice reported the derivation of mouse embryonic stem cell lines from the ...

Origin of the inner cell mass in mouse embryos: Cell lineage analysis by microinjection

Developmental Biology, 1986
The mouse inner cell mass is established by cells that are allocated to internal positions after the 8-cell stage. We analyzed the timing of this allocation by microinjecting two cell lineage markers, horseradish peroxidase and rhodamine-conjugated dextran, into mouse blastomeres at the 8- to 32-cell stage.

Tetraploid Embryonic Stem Cells Contribute to the Inner Cell Mass of Mouse Blastocysts

Cloning and Stem Cells, 2005
The demonstration that mouse somatic cells can be reprogrammed following fusion with embryonic stem (ES) cells may provide an alternative to somatic cell nuclear transfer (therapeutic cloning) to generate autologous stem cells. In an attempt to produce cells with an increased pool of reprogramming factors, tetraploid ES cells were produced by ...

Allocation of cells to the inner cell mass and trophectoderm of 3/4 mouse embryos

Reproduction, Fertility and Development, 1990
The allocation of cells to the inner cell mass (ICM) and trophectoderm (TE) was investigated at 6-h intervals from 78 h to 102 h after hCG injection in 3/4 mouse embryos to determine the effect of removal of a single blastomere at the 4-cell stage on early differentiation.
