Contactless Conductivity Detection for Capillary Electrophoresis—Developments From 2020 to 2024

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The review covering the development of capillary electrophoresis with capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection from 2020 to 2024 is the latest in a series going back to 2004. The article considers applications employing conventional capillaries and planar lab‐on‐chip devices as well as fundamental and technical developments of ...

Multi-Substrate Specificity and the Evolutionary Basis for Interdependence in tRNA Editing and Methylation Enzymes

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2019
Among tRNA modification enzymes there is a correlation between specificity for multiple tRNA substrates and heteromultimerization. In general, enzymes that modify a conserved residue in different tRNA sequences adopt a heterodimeric structure. Presumably,

Metabolomics guides rational development of a simplified cell culture medium for drug screening against Trypanosoma brucei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
n vitro culture methods underpin many experimental approaches to biology and drug discovery. The modification of established cell culture methods to make them more biologically relevant or to optimize growth is traditionally a laborious task.

INOSINE FERMENTATION-PRODUCTION OF INOSINE BY MUTANTS OF BACILLUS SUBTILIS

open access: yesThe Journal of General and Applied Microbiology, 1968
Using rab values, rates of oxygen transfer into sulfite solution, as an index for establishing aeration-agitation, the fermentative production of inosine was scaled up from a flask culture to a 50-k1 tank culture. By applying the optimum condition for the production of inosine obtained with small scale fermentors, the yield of inosine obtained with a ...

Polymorphism of Inosine. III. The Equilibrium for the Inosine–Dimethyl Sulfoxide–Water System [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1974
Abstract The phase diagram for the inosine–dimethyl sulfoxide–water system was determined at 30 °C. Inosine in the α-form is more soluble than that in the β-form in aqueous DMSO. The difference in the solubilities between the two forms is small when the concentration of DMSO is below 50%.

Metabolomics Assessment of the Mitigation of Lead‐Induced Inflammation in Adult Zebrafish (Danio rerio) by a Fermented Soybean Extract

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Fermented soybean extract (FSE) at 50 mg/L has the potential to mitigate lead (Pb) toxicity (5 mg/L) observed in the zebrafish model. This study offers insights into food intervention in toxicology. ABSTRACT This study investigated the potential of fermented soybean extract (FSE) as an alternative therapy for lead (Pb) toxicity, without chelation side ...

iRNA-AI: identifying the adenosine to inosine editing sites in RNA sequences

open access: yesOncoTarget, 2016
Catalyzed by adenosine deaminase (ADAR), the adenosine to inosine (A-to-I) editing in RNA is not only involved in various important biological processes, but also closely associated with a series of major diseases.

Caenorhabditis elegans Predation on Bacillus anthracis: Decontamination of Spore Contaminated Soil with Germinants and Nematodes

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Remediation of Bacillus anthracis-contaminated soil is challenging and approaches to reduce overall spore levels in environmentally contaminated soil or after intentional release of the infectious disease agent in a safe, low-cost manner are needed.

Reciprocal regulation of A-to-I RNA editing and the vertebrate nervous system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The fine control of molecules mediating communication in the nervous system is key to adjusting neuronal signaling during development and in maintaining the stability of established networks in the face of altered sensory input.
