Metabolic clearance of insulin-like growth factor-II in sheep
Journal of Endocrinology, 1989ABSTRACT The metabolic clearance of ovine insulin-like growth factor-II (IGF-II) was examined in sheep using 131I-labelled IGF-II. Following i.v. administration the tracer was distributed in a volume similar to that of the vascular space (58-5 ±3.3 ml/kg; mean ± s.e.m., n = 5) and demonstrated a triphasic pattern of clearance.

A 67 amino acid peptide, structurally similar to IGF-I (somatomedin C), but having greater insulin-like activity, and less growth promoting activity. Both IGF-I and IGF-II share structural similarities with proinsulin.

Insulin-like growth factor II in the rat choroid plexus
Molecular Brain Research, 1988In situ hybridization histochemistry has been used to demonstrate the expression of the mRNA for insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) in the adult rat choroid plexus. IGF-II mRNA was found in the choroid plexus cells by using two different probes specific for different parts of IGF-II sequence.

Insulin-like growth factor-II regulates bone sialoprotein gene transcription
Odontology, 2015Insulin-like growth factor-I and -II (IGF-I and IGF-II) have been found in bone extracts of several different species, and IGF-II is the most abundant growth factor stored in bone. Bone sialoprotein (BSP) is a noncollagenous extracellular matrix glycoprotein associated with mineralized connective tissues.

Serum insulin-like growth factor II in chronic liver disease
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 1989Insulin-like growth factor II is secreted primarily by the liver and is reported to be transcribed in many primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHC) cell lines. We have studied diagnostic significance of serum IGF-II in chronic liver diseases using specific enzyme immunoassay.

Insulin-like Growth Factor II Inhibits Glucose-Induced Insulin Exocytosis
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1998We have investigated the effect of IGF-II on glucose-induced insulin release in the pancreatic beta-cell. Introduction of IGF-II during perifusion of the cells with 20 mM glucose abolished glucose-induced insulin release. Concomitant addition of IGF-II with 20 mM glucose caused a complete inhibition of insulin release.

Pentamannosyl phosphate substituted bovine serum albumin (PMP-BSA) and insulin like growth factor II (IGF II) bind specifically to immobilized mannose 6-phosphate/insulin like growth factor II receptor. An excess of IGF II inhibited binding of PMP-BSA by less than or equal to 20%, and an excess of PMP-BSA inhibited binding of IGF II by less than or ...

Cystic ovarian disease (COD) is one of the most common reproductive disorders of cattle and is considered to have multifactorial aetiology. An accepted hypothesis involves neuroendocrinological dysfunction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis; however, the role of growth factors in COD has not been extensively investigated.

Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II).
The international journal of biochemistry & cell biology, 1998Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) plays a key role in mammalian growth, influencing foetal cell division and differentiation and possibly metabolic regulation. The mature 67 amino acid peptide shares sequence homology with both insulin and IGF-I.

Purification and characterization of insulin-like growth factor-II receptors
1989Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the purification and characterization of insulin-like growth factor-II (IGF-II) receptors. Successful purifications of IGF-II receptor to date have all employed IGF-II-agarose affinity chromatography. This technique has the advantage of being highly specific for the IGF-II receptor, resulting in high yields of
