Characterisation of novel matrix-binding interactions for latent transforming growth factor-β-binding protein-2 (LTBP-2), with emphasis on heparin and heparan sulphate proteoglycans. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Elastic fibres are important components of the extracellular matrices, being composed of an elastin core and fibrillin-microfibrils around the periphery.

Targeting Lactate and Lactylation in Cancer Metabolism and Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactate, once deemed a metabolic waste, emerges as a central regulator of cancer progression. This review elucidates how lactate and its epigenetic derivative, protein lactylation, orchestrate tumor metabolism, immune suppression, and therapeutic resistance.

Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-1 at the maternal-fetal interface and insulin-like growth factor-I, insulin-like growth factor-II, and insulin-like growth factor binding protein-1 in the circulation of women with severe preeclampsia

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1997
Preeclampsia is characterized by maternal hypertension, proteinuria, edema, and shallow placental invasion. Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-1, abundant in maternal decidua, is believed to play a role in limiting trophoblast invasiveness.

Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.

Plant basic 7 S globulin-like proteins have insulin and insulin-like growth factor binding activity

open access: yes, 1991
Basic 7 S globulin (Bg) is a cysteine-rich glycoprotein present in soybean seeds. Mature Bg is composed of high- and low-kDa subunits linked by disulfide bonding. A ligand blotting experiment using [125I]insulin and [125I]insulin-like growth factor-I and

Targeting the PDK1/c‐Myc/SOX10 Signaling in Oligodendrocytes Alleviates Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work reveals that oligodendrocyte homeostasis, mediated by PDK1, is a critical determinant of neuropathic pain (NPP) pathogenesis. Disruption of PDK1 in oligodendrocytes impairs SOX10‐dependent myelination programs through c‐Myc accumulation, leading to disrupted myelination and the pathophysiology of NPP.

The pivotal role of insulin-like growth factors in pregnancy success.

open access: yes, 2007
Appropriate placental development in early gestation is essential for subsequent placental function and hence optimal fetal growth and pregnancy outcome.

Subcellular distribution of the insulin-like growth factor (IGF) binding proteins (IGFBPs) 2 and 3 in articular chondrocytes

open access: yes, 2008
The insulin-like growth factor (IGF) is a major anabolic regulator in articular cartilage. The IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs) are increased during osteoarthritis (OA), but the function of the later proteins remains unknown.

ECM‐Stiffness Mediated Persistent Fibroblast Activation Requires Integrin and Formin Dependent Chromatin Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prolonged exposure to stiff extracellular matrix drives cancer‐associated fibroblasts into a persistently activated myofibroblast state. Two parallel pathways are identified: β1 integrin activation smoothens the nuclear lamina to reduce lamin–chromatin contacts, while the formin mDia2 regulates nuclear actin to alter chromatin organization.
