The effect of gelatinized brown rice extract on type 2 diabetes mellitus via inhibition of insulin resistance mediators in HepG2 cells

open access: yesDiscover Food
The purpose of this study evaluated effects of gelatinized brown rice extract (GBE) on type 2 diabetes mellitus by analyzing antioxidant activity, polysaccharide-degrading enzymes activity, and regulation of insulin secretion and glucose transport ...

Insulin Signaling After Exercise in Insulin Receptor Substrate-2-Deficient Mice [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes, 2002
The period immediately after exercise is characterized by enhanced insulin action in skeletal muscle, and on the molecular level, by a marked increase in insulin-stimulated, phosphotyrosine-associated phosphatidylinositol (PI) 3-kinase activity. Because the increase in PI 3-kinase activity cannot be explained by increased insulin receptor substrate ...

The NAD(P)H oxidase homolog Nox4 modulates insulin-stimulated generation of H\u3csub\u3e2\u3c/sub\u3e0\u3csub\u3e2\u3c/sub\u3e and plays an integral role in insulin signal transduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Insulin stimulation of target cells elicits a burst of H2O2 that enhances tyrosine phosphorylation of the insulin receptor and its cellular substrate proteins as well as distal signaling events in the insulin action cascade.

Insulin receptor substrate 2 is a negative regulator of memory formation.

open access: yesLearning & memory (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.), 2011
Insulin has been shown to impact on learning and memory in both humans and animals, but the downstream signaling mechanisms involved are poorly characterized.

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

p62‐mediated autophagy affects nutrition‐dependent insulin receptor substrate 1 dynamics in 3T3‐L1 preadipocytes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, 2019
Aims/Introduction Previous studies have shown that an organism's nutritional status changes the protein levels of insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS‐1) in a tissue‐specific manner. Although the mechanisms underlying the regulation of IRS‐1 in the nutrient‐

Molecular Mechanism of Insulin-Induced Degradation of Insulin Receptor Substrate 1 [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 2002
Insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS-1) plays an important role in the insulin signaling cascade. In vitro and in vivo studies from many investigators have suggested that lowering of IRS-1 cellular levels may be a mechanism of disordered insulin action (so-called insulin resistance). We previously reported that the protein levels of IRS-1 were selectively

Inositols in Insulin Signaling and Glucose Metabolism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In the past decades, both the importance of inositol for human health and the complex interaction between glucose and inositol have been the subject of increasing consideration. Glucose has been shown to interfere with cellular transmembrane transport of

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...
