Fat Targets for Insulin Signaling [PDF]
Adipose cells control flux of fatty acids to peripheral tissues by storing and hydrolyzing triglyceride under hormonal control. New data reveal that insulin may regulate this process in part by promoting membrane trafficking of intracellular fatty acid transporters FATP1 and FATP4 to the plasma membrane.

Secretagogin Regulates Insulin Signaling by Direct Insulin Binding
Summary: Secretagogin (SCGN) is a β-cell enriched, secretory/cytosolic Ca2+-binding protein with unknown secretory regulation and functions. Recent findings suggest that SCGN deficiency correlates with compromised insulin response and diabetes.

The modification of insulin to enhance oral delivery systems
textWhile a number of PEGylated proteins have been studied for injectable applications and reviewers have used this data to speculate possible oral delivery improvements, a detailed investigation of PEGylated insulin for oral delivery and the development

Molecular brakes regulating mTORC1 activation in skeletal muscle following synergist ablation [PDF]
The goal of the current work was to profile positive (mTORC1 activation, autocrine/paracrine growth factors) and negative [AMPK, unfolded protein response (UPR)] pathways that might regulate overload-induced mTORC1 activation with the hypothesis that a ...

Lipid signals and insulin resistance
The metabolic syndrome, a cluster of metabolic derangements that include obesity, glucose intolerance, dyslipidemia and hypertension, is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Insulin resistance has been proposed to be the common feature that links obesity to the metabolic syndrome, but the mechanism remains obscure.

LGALS3BP Induces Insulin Resistance via TLR2-IKKα/β Pathway-Mediated IRS1 Serine Phosphorylation [PDF]
Background Insulin resistance (IR) disrupts hepatic glucose and lipid metabolism, contributing to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and progression to severe liver complications.

GnRH receptor activation competes at a low level with growth signaling in stably transfected human breast cell lines [PDF]
Breakthrough Breast CancerBackground: Gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GnRH) analogs lower estrogen levels in pre-menopausal breast cancer patients. GnRH receptor (GnRH-R) activation also directly inhibits the growth of certain cells.

Cell Hydration and Insulin Signalling
Changes in cell hydration are critically important for the signalling towards metabolic responses to hormones, substrates and reactive oxygen intermediates. In liver insulin-induced cell swelling is due to a net K(+)-uptake resulting from the concerted activation of Na(+)/K(+)/2Cl(-) cotransport, Na(+)/H(+) exchange and the Na(+)/K(+)-ATPase.
