On‐site pilot‐scale advanced oxidation pretreatment of hospital wastewater: assessment of pharmaceuticals, pathogens, antibiotic resistance genes and acute ecotoxicity

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Hospital premises generate wastewater containing a wide spectrum of contaminants, such as pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs), antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and pathogenic microorganisms, whilst plenty of them are classified under the antibiotic resistant bacteria (ΑRΒ) category.

Integrons as tools for epidemiological studies [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Microbiology and Infection, 2004
The integron content of Gram-negative strains implicated in three distinct episodes of suspected cross-infection among inpatients was investigated and compared with ribotyping. In the first episode, ribotyping identified a strain of Acinetobacter, isolated over a 3-month period, responsible for an outbreak associated with the use of mechanical ...

Survival Remains High in Griffon Vultures 40 Years After Reintroduction

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
The reintroduction of the Griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus) in French Grands Causses in 1981 is largely regarded as a significant translocation success. 40 years of quality data from intensive monitoring allows us to investigate the survival rates in this long‐lived population on the long term, but also to reflect on the crucial role of adaptive management

Molecular Detection and Antibiotic Susceptibility Profiling of Mannheimia haemolytica Isolates From Pneumonic Pasteurellosis Suspected Cases of Sheep in Northwestern Ethiopia

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
This study in Northwestern Ethiopia analysed M. haemolytica in pneumonic sheep and identified 23 M. haemolytica isolates from 140 nasal swab samples. M. haemolytica isolates were sensitive to most drugs, including tetracycline, chloramphenicol, gentamicin, streptomycin, kanamycin and ampicillin.

Replicative resolution of integron cassette insertion [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2012
Site-specific recombination catalyzed by tyrosine recombinases follows a common pathway consisting of two consecutive strand exchanges. The first strand exchange generates a Holliday junction (HJ), which is resolved by a second strand exchange. In integrons, attC sites recombine as folded single-stranded substrates.
