Endometrial Epithelial Lactate Deficiency Drives CD8+ T‐Cells Dysregulation in Unexplained Recurrent Implantation Failure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Unexplained recurrent implantation failure (RIF) represents a significant clinical challenge. Our results demonstrate that reduced lactate production in the RIF endometrium impairs the suppression of cytotoxic CD8+ T‑cells, allowing their proliferation and thereby disrupting the local immune balance essential for successful embryo implantation.

Intercellular junctions in sepsis

Critical Care Medicine, 2008
Intercellular junctions show important alterations in sepsis and in inflammatory states. It is hypotesized that their malfunction may be involved in vascular septic dysfunction and also in multiple organ dysfunction ...

Intercellular junctions in myriapods

Tissue and Cell, 1990
Tissue from the intestinal tract of myriapods, including millipedes, centipedes and pauropods were examined in tracer-impregnated sections and freeze-fracture replicas. The foregut and hindgut of all three classes exhibit pleated septate junctions; these display undulating intercellular ribbons in thin sections.

Intercellular junctions in human ependymomas

Acta Neuropathologica, 1972
The ultrastructure and distribution of intercellular junctions in 5 human ependymomas of the fourth ventricle are described. The most common form was the simple apposition of cells with a cleft, about 200 A wide, between their cell membranes. The zonula adhaerens was predominant in cells near microvilli which were present along a widened intercellular ...

Intercellular junctions of rat endocardium

The Anatomical Record, 1975
AbstractThe ultrastructure of the intercellular junctions of rat endocardium has been characterized following lanthanum exposure in vitro and uranyl acetate staining en bloc. The interendothelial clefts of the endocardium run either a relatively straight or convoluted course and possess one or two loci where the plasma membranes are in close apposition

Cell junctions and intercellular communication

In Vitro, 1980
We have compared intercellular communication in normal and regenerating rat liver. Gap junctions are greatly reduced in size and numbers 29 to 35 hr after hepatectomy, but we still find some 90% of hepatocytes coupled by electrophysiological criteria.

Terbinafine inhibits gap junctional intercellular communication

Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 2016
Terbinafine is an antifungal agent that selectively inhibits fungal sterol synthesis by blocking squalene epoxidase. We evaluated the effect of terbinafine on gap junctional intercellular communication (GJIC). Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) and I-YFP GJIC assays revealed that terbinafine inhibits GJIC in a reversible and dose ...

Structure of gap junction intercellular channels

Current Opinion in Structural Biology, 1996
Gap junctions are formed by a multigene family of polytopic membrane channel proteins, connexins, that have four hydrophobic transmembrane domains and their N and C termini located on the cytoplasmic membrane face. The C-terminal tail plays important roles in channel regulation by pH and phosphorylation.

Assessment of Gap Junctional Intercellular Communication

Current Protocols in Toxicology, 2009
AbstractGap junctions are important plasma membrane organelles through which most cells in normal tissues communicate with each other. They exist in two neighboring cells and each cell contributes half of the structure. One gap junction consists of two hexameric connexons that dock with each other to create a channel. Six of the basic subunits referred
