VI. Intercellular Junctions Involving Neurons

2014
The adhesion between neighboring neurons is sometimes reinforced by adherent junctions. These junctions are characterized, with few exceptions, by the presence of symmetrical plaques of dense material applied to the cytoplasmic face of the two apposed plasma membranes and of fine filaments converging upon these plaques.
