A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

$T_1$- and $T_2$-spin relaxation time limitations of phosphorous donor electrons near crystalline silicon to silicon dioxide interface defects

open access: yes, 2009
A study of donor electron spins and spin--dependent electronic transitions involving phosphorous ($^{31}$P) atoms in proximity of the (111) oriented crystalline silicon (c-Si) to silicon dioxide (SiO$_{2}$) interface is presented for [$^{31}$P] = 10$^{15}

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Heterovalent interlayers and interface states: an ab initio study of GaAs/Si/GaAs (110) and (100) heterostructures

open access: yes, 2005
We have investigated ab initio the existence of localized states and resonances in abrupt GaAs/Si/GaAs (110)- and (100)-oriented heterostructures incorporating 1 or 2 monolayers (MLs) of Si, as well as in the fully developed Si/GaAs (110) heterojunction.

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Micro-Reflector Integrated Multichannel μLED Optogenetic Neurostimulator With Enhanced Intensity

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering, 2018
This paper reports the fabrication and characterization of an optical neuro-stimulator array that consists of 32-channel microscale light-emitting diodes (μ-LEDs) coupled with microscale reflectors for intensity enhancement.
