Efficacy of differentiated targeted interferon and immunomodulatory therapy focused on pathological immunophenotypes in patients with atypical chronic active herpesvirus infections

open access: yesМедицинский вестник Юга России
Objective: In a prospective cohort study to evaluate the clinical and immunological efficacy of differentiated targeted interferon and immunomodulatory therapies focused on identified pathological immunophenotropes and associated clinical manifestations ...

Depression and anxiety disorders during pegylated interferon treatment in patients with chronic hepatitis B

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Psychopharmacology, 2017
Objectives: Interferon (IFN) treatment has many neuropsychiatric side effects such as depression and anxiety disorder. Although untreated depression is a major contributor to dosage reduction or premature discontinuation of the IFN treatment, it is found

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

In turkeys, unlike chickens, the non-structural NS1 protein does not play a significant role in the replication and tissue tropism of the H7N1 avian influenza virus

open access: yesVirulence
The economic losses caused by high pathogenicity (HP) avian influenza viruses (AIV) in the poultry industry worldwide are enormous. Although chickens and turkeys are closely related Galliformes, turkeys are thought to be a bridging host for the ...

Multiplex giant magnetoresistive biosensor microarrays identify interferon-associated autoantibodies in systemic lupus erythematosus. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
High titer, class-switched autoantibodies are a hallmark of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Dysregulation of the interferon (IFN) pathway is observed in individuals with active SLE, although the association of specific autoantibodies with chemokine ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Role of interferon regulatory factors in predicting the prognosis of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever

open access: yesTürk Biyokimya Dergisi
Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a severe viral illness with a high fatality rate. The interferon response plays a crucial role in the antiviral defense against the CCHF virus (CCHFV).

Predictive value of hepatic, hematological, and immunological markers and their temporal dynamics in chronic hepatitis B functional cure

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection remains a major global health burden. While interferon-alpha (IFNα) therapy demonstrates antiviral and immunomodulatory effects, reliable prognostic markers for sustained response are needed. Transaminases, hematological

One Step Ahead: Herpesviruses Light the Way to Understanding Interferon-Stimulated Genes (ISGs)

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
The host immune system is engaged in a constant battle with microorganisms, with the immediate detection of pathogenic invasion and subsequent signalling acting as crucial deterrents against the establishment of a successful infection.

Interferon-lambda: A potent regulator of intestinal viral infections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Interferon-lambda (IFN-λ) is a recently described cytokine found to be of critical importance in innate immune regulation of intestinal viruses. Endogenous IFN-λ has potent antiviral effects and has been shown to control multiple intestinal viruses and ...
