From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Interferon‐regulatory factor‐1 boosts bevacizumab cardiotoxicity by the vascular endothelial growth factor A/14‐3‐3γ axis

open access: yesESC Heart Failure
Aim Myocardial injury is a significant cause of death. This study investigated the role and underlying mechanism of interferon‐regulatory factor‐1 (IRF1) in bevacizumab (BVZ)‐induced cardiomyocyte injury.

Topical Application of a Vitamin A Derivative and Its Combination With Non-ablative Fractional Laser Potentiates Cutaneous Influenza Vaccination

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Skin contains a large number of antigen presenting cells, making intradermal (ID) injection one of the most effective ways for vaccine administration. However, although current adjuvants may cause severe local reactions and inflammations in the skin, no ...

Type I interferons modulate autophagy to shape gemcitabine response in pancreatic cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Type I interferons differentially modulate autophagy and the response of pancreatic cancer cells to gemcitabine. IFNα2b stimulates autophagic flux and protects cells from gemcitabine‐induced cell death, contributing to chemoresistance. In contrast, IFNβ1a inhibits autophagosome formation and enhances gemcitabine‐induced cell death, resulting in ...

The regulation of type I interferon production by paramyxoviruses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Research supported by The Wellcome Trust (087751/A/08/Z)Experimentally, paramyxoviruses are conventionally considered good inducers of type I interferons (IFN-alpha/beta), and have been used as agents in the commercial production of human IFN-alpha ...

Influenza Vaccination Responses in Disabled Stroke Patients: A Single‐Center Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to investigate the immunological response to influenza vaccination, the incidence and severity of influenza infection, and the side effects of the vaccination in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods This prospective observational study was conducted between 2023 and 2024 at Ramathibodi Hospital.

The Importance of Physiologically Relevant Cell Lines for Studying Virus–Host Interactions

open access: yesViruses, 2016
Viruses interact intimately with the host cell at nearly every stage of replication, and the cell model that is chosen to study virus infection is critically important.

Integrated PANoptosis Profiling Identifies Immunosuppressive Subtypes and a Prognostic Signature With Functional Validation of MLKL in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The prognosis of glioblastoma (GBM) remains highly unfavorable, largely due to high tumor heterogeneity and an immunosuppressive microenvironment. However, the functional role of PANoptosis in this context is poorly understood. Methods Patients were stratified via K‐means clustering. A risk score model was constructed using prognosis‐

CuRTAiling Interferon Regulatory Factor Signaling with the E3 Ligase RAUL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Interferon regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) and IRF7 modulate the transcription of type I interferon. In this issue of Immunity, Yu and Hayward (2010) identify RAUL, the bona fide ubiquitin ligase that regulates turnover of IRF3 and ...

Intracerebral Hemorrhage Induces Monocyte TNF Signaling in Patients That Is Suppressed by BAF312

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) causes high morbidity and mortality, with neurotoxic inflammation driven by infiltrating monocytes. This study is an in‐depth longitudinal examination of the immune response during the first week of ICH in the presence and absence of the immunomodulatory drug BAF312 (Siponimod).
