Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

Interleukin-3: Promises and Perspectives

open access: yesHematology, 1998
Interleukin-3 (IL-3) is a multipotent hematopoietic growth factor produced by activated T-cells, monocytes/macrophages and stroma cells. Human IL-3 gene is located on chromosome 5 near segment 5q31. The high affinity receptor for human IL-3 is composed of alpha and beta subunits.

Translating whole‐genome doubling into precision medicine in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Whole‐genome doubling creates a WGD‐positive tumor state characterized by persistent chromosomal instability, karyotypic diversification, and cellular stress. These same biological pressures drive aggressive tumor evolution while exposing therapeutic vulnerabilities, providing a rationale for WGD‐informed precision medicine. Whole‐genome doubling (WGD)

Endocrine Effects of Human Recombinant Interleukin-3 in Cancer Patients

open access: yesThe International Journal of Biological Markers, 1992
It is known that several cytokines can exert hormonal effects. At present, no data are available about the possible influence of IL-3 on the endocrine system. In order to investigate the endocrine effects of IL-3 in humans, we have evaluated serum levels

ADP‐ribosylation: An emerging regulator of the epigenome

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ADP‐ribosylation has emerged as a dynamic epigenetic signaling mechanism that modifies histones and chromatin‐associated proteins. Through coordinated PARylation and MARylation, it integrates with other histone modifications to regulate chromatin structure, transcription factor activity, and gene expression, influencing genome function and disease ...

Indole-3-carbinol attenuates DNCB-induced atopic dermatitis in mice by reducing inflammation and IL-4/IL-13 expression

open access: yesBiomolecules & Biomedicine
Atopic dermatitis (AD), commonly known as atopic eczema, is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. Indole-3-carbinol (I3C), a phytochemical naturally occurring in Brassica vegetables, has been traditionally used in folk medicine for inflammatory and ...

Predictive and prognostic biomarkers of Bacillus Calmette‐Guérin therapy failure in bladder cancer patients: A systematic review

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
High‐risk bladder cancer is typically treated with Bacillus Calmette‐Guérin (BCG), but 30–40% of patients relapse. No FDA‐ or CE‐approved biomarkers currently predict or prognosticate BCG failure. We systematically reviewed the literature and identified 72 eligible studies, revealing several promising biomarkers associated with BCG treatment response ...

Sepsis beim Hund: Interleukin-6 als prognostischer Parameter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007

The interleukin-1 receptor antagonist influences interleukin-1 effects in rat and mouse

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 1992
In this work we have focused on the ability of interleukin-1 to induce an acute phase protein response and a degranulation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes in vivo.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.
