Interleukin-1 and Interleukin-6 in Psoriasis

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1990
We report on the levels of expression of IL-1 and IL-6 in skin from psoriasis patients. Different approaches were pursued. Initially, the levels of IL-1 beta and IL-6 were measured in suction blister fluid from lesional and uninvolved skin from psoriasis patients, using a sensitive enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA) and bio-assay.

IMMUNOMODULATORY EFFECT OF CURCUMA LONGA IN MICE [PDF]

open access: yesBasrah Journal of Veterinary Research, 2014
This study was designed to find out the effect of oral inoculation of aqueous extract of Curcuma Longa at two doses (1 and 5) mg/ kg body weight daily for 4 weeks on the immune response of Balb/c mice by estimating of serum concentration of interleukin-2

Montmorency cherries reduce the oxidative stress and inflammatory responses to repeated days high-intensity stochastic cycling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This investigation examined the impact of Montmorency tart cherry concentrate (MC) on physiological indices of oxidative stress, inflammation and muscle damage across 3 days simulated road cycle racing.

Interleukin-18: Perspectives on the Newest Interleukin

open access: yesCytokine & Growth Factor Reviews, 1998
Just over two years ago the newest member of the interleukin family of cytokines, IL-18, was molecularly cloned. IL-18 was originally identified as a result of its ability to induce interferon gamma production, however with the advent of its cloning and the production of recombinant protein a number of other biological actions have since been ...

Comparative Evaluation of Gingival Crevicular Fluid Interleukin-17, 18 and 21 in Different Stages of Periodontal Health and Disease

open access: yesMedicina, 2022
Background and Objectives: The elicitation of a host’s immune–inflammatory responses to overcome oral bacterial biofilm challenges is mediated by numerous cytokines. We explored the role of three such cytokines, viz.

Interleukin-1 and interleukin-1 antagonism [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 1991
The polypeptide cytokine interleukin-1 (IL-1) affects nearly every tissue and organ system. IL-1 is the prototype of the pro-inflammatory cytokines in that it induces the expression of a variety of genes and the synthesis of several proteins that, in turn, induce acute and chronic inflammatory changes.

The Cytokine Network in Colorectal Cancer: Implications for New Treatment Strategies

open access: yesCells, 2022
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most frequent tumor entities worldwide with only limited therapeutic options. CRC is not only a genetic disease with several mutations in specific oncogenes and/or tumor suppressor genes such as APC, KRAS, PIC3CA ...

Cardiometabolic effects of genetic upregulation of the interleukin 1 receptor antagonist: a Mendelian randomisation analysis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: To investigate potential cardiovascular and other effects of long-term pharmacological interleukin 1 (IL-1) inhibition, we studied genetic variants that produce inhibition of IL-1, a master regulator of inflammation.

Interleukin-6 gene (IL-6): a possible role in brain morphology in the healthy adult brain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Cytokines such as interleukin 6 (IL-6) have been implicated in dual functions in neuropsychiatric disorders. Little is known about the genetic predisposition to neurodegenerative and neuroproliferative properties of cytokine genes.
