Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist activity of a human interleukin-1 inhibitor

Nature, 1990
Three interleukin-1 inhibitors have been purified to homogeneity from medium conditioned by human monocytes. Partial sequence analysis and digestion with N-glycanase indicate that these are glycosylation forms of a single protein. The protein binds to the interleukin-1 receptor but has no interleukin-1-like activity, even at very high concentrations ...

CLINICAL UTILITY OF INTERLEUKIN-1 INHIBITORS IN PEDIATRIC SEPSIS

Shock, 2023
ABSTRACT The pathophysiology of pediatric sepsis is characterized by increased innate immune activation earlier in life. Interleukin-1 is a proinflammatory cytokine implicated in the pathophysiology of sepsis, and ferritin is a stable surrogate biomarker for elevated IL-1 levels.

Human Urine-Derived Inhibitors of Interleukin 1

Clinical Infectious Diseases, 1987
Human urine has been found to contain several different substances that are capable of inhibiting the in vitro effects of interleukin 1 (IL-1). The urine of febrile individuals contains elevated levels of a 30-40 kilodalton (kdal) glycoprotein that is a potent inhibitor of IL-1-induced proliferation of murine thymocytes.
