The Journal of Immunology, 1985
Abstract The objective of these studies was to examine the ability of phorbol myristic acetate (PMA), Fc fragments, and various forms of immune complexes to induce the production by human monocytes of factors stimulatory to chondrocytes or thymocytes.

Interleukin-1 and its inhibitors: Implications for disease biology and therapy
1995IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta are polypeptide hormones that exhibit a broad spectrum of beneficial and harmful biologic activities. Clinical trials designed to benefit from its stimulatory effects on human hematopoiesis and from its role in improving host defenses, are being currently conducted.

Biomedical peptides, proteins & nucleic acids : structure, synthesis & biological activity, 1998
In order to find the low-molecular-weight interleukin-1 (IL-1) inhibitors, we synthesised a series of peptides, derived from three regions of interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra): N-terminal (residues 5-9), central (90-98) and C-terminal (143-148).

[Mechanisms of the effect of interleukin-1 inhibitor activators].
Glas. Srpska akademija nauka i umetnosti. Odeljenje medicinskih nauka, 1995Interleukin-1 (IL-1) has a broad range of effects on physiologic processes, including immunologic phenomena. In maintaining the tissue homeostasis the existence of feed-back mechanisms regulating down the IL-1 activity would be beneficial for the host.

Interleukin-1, tumor necrosis factor and their specific inhibitors.
European cytokine network, 1995It has become evident during the past years that interleukin-1 (IL-1) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), mainly produced by monocyte-macrophages, are the principal mediators of tissue destruction in many immuno-inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the discovery of a biologically active monokine of approximately 17
