Interleukin-6

Clinical Immunotherapeutics, 1994
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) was found to be a pleiotropic cytokine which plays important roles not only in immune response but also in inflammation and hematopoiesis since the cDNA for IL-6 was originally cloned as a B cell differentiation factor (BCDF). IL-11, leukemia inhibitory factor, oncostatin M, and ciliary neurotrophic factor have similar effects with

Exercise and interleukin-6

Current Opinion in Hematology, 2001
Strenuous exercise induces increased levels in a number of pro-and anti-inflammatory cytokines, natural occurring cytokine inhibitors, and chemokines. Thus, increased plasma levels of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha, interleukin (IL)-1 beta, IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra), TNF-receptors (TNF-R), IL-10, IL-8, and macrophage inflammatory protein ...

Interleukin-6-Producing Pheochromocytoma

Acta Haematologica, 1991
A 42-year-old female with high fever and headache was admitted. Physical examination revealed hypertension, thrombocytosis with megakaryocytosis, hyperfibrinogenemia, and high level of serum noradrenaline. After operation of extramedullary pheochromocytoma, all symptoms disappeared and findings became normal.

Measurement of Interleukin 6

Current Protocols in Immunology, 1996
AbstractInterleukin 6 (IL‐6) is a pluripotent cytokine with multiple effects on many different cell types. It is produced by a variety of cells in response to immunological and other stimuli. This unit describes a simple and sensitive assay for human, rat, rabbit, pig, and mouse IL‐6, based on IL‐6‐dependent proliferation of a murine B cell hybridoma ...
