Study of Absorption Characteristics of the Total Saponins from Radix Ilicis Pubescentis in an In Situ Single-Pass Intestinal Perfusion (SPIP) Rat Model by Using Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC)

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
In contrast to the extensively reported therapeutic activities, far less attention has been paid to the intestinal absorption of the total saponins from Radix Ilicis Pubescentis (in Chinese Mao-Dong-Qing, MDQ).

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Intestinal Gastrin/CCKBR Axis Protects against Type 2 Diabetes by Reducing Intestinal Glucose Absorption through the PI3K/Akt/eIF4B Signaling Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science
The Gastrin/CCKBR axis is essential for inhibiting intestinal sodium absorption, but its effects on intestinal glucose metabolism remain elusive. This study aims to determine the role of intestinal Gastrin/CCKBR on glucose absorption in the development ...

Research Progress in In Vitro Intestinal Cell Models and Their Applications in Evaluating Anthocyanin Absorption and Transport [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
Anthocyanins are ubiquitous in plants, and many studies indicate that they possess diverse biological activities depending on their bioaccessibility and bioavailability.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

Microbial Interactions with Intestinal Lipid Digestion and Absorption: Emerging Targets for Metabolic Disorders

open access: yesResearch
Dietary fat undergoes digestion and absorption before entering enterocytes, where lipids are re-esterified and packaged into chylomicrons for lymphatic transport.

Intestinal Absorption of Bile Salts

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology, 1990
Bile acids are secreted from the liver into the duodenum where they aid in the digestion and absorption of dietary lipids. Absorption of bile acids occurs through both ionic and nonionic diffusion in the jejunum and colon and through an active sodium ion-

Combination of a biopharmaceutic classification system and physiologically based pharmacokinetic models to predict absorption properties of baicalein in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesJournal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences, 2021
Objective: To determine the in vitro and in vivo absorption properties of active ingredients of the Chinese medicine, baicalein, to enrich mechanistic understanding of oral drug absorption.

Diabetes‐induced vascular calcification is associated with low pyrophosphate and its oral supplementation prevents calcification in diabetic mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Induction of diabetes in three different mouse strains uniformly resulted in an increase in TNAP activity and a reduction in pyrophosphate (PPi) in the circulation. Inhibition of TNAP restored plasma PPi. Diabetes‐induced calcification in the media layer of the aorta was detected only in the Abcc6−/− strain, which is predisposed to ectopic ...
