miR-155 induces sepsis-associated damage to the intestinal mucosal barrier via sirtuin 1/nuclear factor-κB-mediated intestinal pyroptosis. [PDF]

open access: yesActa Biochim Biophys Sin (Shanghai)
Sepsis is a life-threatening state of organ dysfunction caused by systemic inflammation and a dysfunctional response to host infections that can induce severe intestinal mucosal damage.

Gut Microbiota Regulates Systemic Inflammatory Response and Compensatory Anti‐Inflammatory Response Syndromes by Targeting PF4+ Macrophages in Acute Pancreatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Acute pancreatitis (AP) begins with pancreatic local inflammation, leading to the onset of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), followed by compensatory anti‐inflammatory response syndrome (CARS), which causes immune paralysis and higher mortality rate.

Gut Mycobiota‐Associated Tryptophan Catabolites Protect Against Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota participates in the progression of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) through microbiota‐host interaction. However, the beneficial role of commensal mycobiota in MASLD progression remains poorly understood.

SLAMF7 regulates goblet cell mucus production and negatively impacts gut homeostasis and commensalism

open access: yesGut Microbes
Crosstalk between the intestinal mucosal barrier and the gut microbiota contributes to maintaining intestinal homeostasis. Accumulating evidence suggests that diverse mechanisms are involved in maintaining intestinal homeostasis. Any disturbance in these

Hesperidin enhances intestinal barrier function in Caco‐2 cell monolayers via AMPK‐mediated tight junction‐related proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, 2023
The intestinal epithelium is a single‐cell layer on the mucosal surface that absorbs food‐derived nutrients and functions as a barrier that protects mucosal integrity.

PRMT1‐Mediated LDHA Methylation Drives STAT3 Lactylation to Orchestrate Intestinal Inflammation and Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies an immunometabolic axis wherein SAM‐driven PRMT1 methylates LDHA, enhancing its activity. The resultant lactate induces STAT3 K709 lactylation, which stabilizes an active conformation to promote STAT3 phosphorylation and IL‐10 expression.
