Circadian miR-449c-5p regulates uterine Ca2+ transport during eggshell calcification in chickens

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2021
Background miRNAs regulate circadian patterns by modulating the biological clocks of animals. In our previous study, we found that the clock gene exhibited a cosine expression pattern in the fallopian tube of chicken uterus.

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Differential dynamics of hepatic protein expressions with long-term cultivated hepatitis C virus infection

open access: yesJournal of Microbiology, Immunology and Infection, 2020
Background: The liver maintains blood chemical homeostasis by active uptake and secretion through endocytosis, exocytosis, and intracellular trafficking between the plasma and intracellular membranes.

Uptake and intracellular trafficking of superantigens in dendritic cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Bacterial superantigens (SAgs) are exotoxins produced mainly by Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes that can cause toxic shock syndrome (TSS). According to current paradigm, SAgs interact directly and simultaneously with T cell receptor (TCR)

Myosin-Driven Intracellular Transport [PDF]

open access: yesCold Spring Harbor Perspectives in Biology, 2018
The delivery of intracellular material within cells is crucial for maintaining normal function. Myosins transport a wide variety of cargo, ranging from vesicles to ribonuclear protein particles (RNPs), in plants, fungi, and metazoa. The properties of a given myosin transporter are adapted to move on different actin filament tracks, either on the ...

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Toxoplasma sortilin interacts with secretory proteins and it is critical for parasite proliferation

open access: yesParasites & Vectors
Background The human sortilin protein is an important drug target and detection marker for cancer research. The sortilin from Toxoplasma gondii transports proteins associated with the apical organelles of the parasite.

Metabolic Modulation of Intracellular Ammonia via Intravesical Instillation of Nanoporter‐Encased Hydrogel Eradicates Bladder Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
Tumor protein 53 (TP53) mutation in bladder carcinoma (BC), upregulates the transcription of carbamoyl phosphate synthetase 1 (CPS1), to reduce intracellular ammonia toxicity.

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...
