Organic vs Conventional Suckling Lamb Production: Product Quality and Consumer Acceptance [PDF]
Samples of suckling lambs (n=40) of two breeds reared under conventional and organic conditions were analysed to asses physico-chemical characteristics, including instrumental texture, and nutritional quality in terms of fatty acid composition.

The genomes and history of domestic animals [PDF]
This paper reviews how mammalian genomes are utilized in modern genetics for the detection of genes and polymorphisms (mutations) within domesticated animal (mostly livestock) genomes that are related to traits of economic importance to humans.

Gli1+ adventitial stem cells (ASCs) have been thought to generate smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in atherosclerosis. Using a dual‐recombinase lineage tracing to exclude ectopic labeling, Wang et al. found that Gli1+ ASCs do not contribute to SMCs in atherosclerotic plaques.

Ethnic differences in adiposity and diabetes risk – insights from genetic studies [PDF]
Type 2 diabetes is more common in non-Europeans and starts at a younger age and at lower BMI cut-offs. This review discusses the insights from genetic studies about pathophysiological mechanisms which determine risk of disease with a focus on the role of

HMGB2–RAD21 Axis Promotes Fibro/Adipogenic Progenitor Proliferation and Regulates Fat Infiltration
This study constructed the first developmental atlas of embryonic skeletal muscle fibro/adipogenic progenitors (FAPs) and identified an HMGB2+ FAPs subpopulation that regulates FAP pool size and muscle homeostasis. HMGB2 directly targets the RAD21 promoter, and its knockout significantly reduces FAP numbers, thereby lowering the potential for ...

Transcriptome shifts triggered by vitamin A and SCD genotype interaction in Duroc pigs
Background The composition of intramuscular fat depends on genetic and environmental factors, including the diet. In pigs, we identified a haplotype of three SNP mutations in the stearoyl-coA desaturase (SCD) gene promoter associated with higher content ...

Effect of the myostatin locus on muscle mass and intramuscular fat content in a cross between mouse lines selected for hypermuscularity [PDF]
Background This study is aimed at the analysis of genetic and physiological effects of myostatin on economically relevant meat quality traits in a genetic background of high muscularity. For this purpose, we generated G3 populations of reciprocal crosses

Migrasomes in Ischemic Stroke: Molecular Landscape and Pathophysiological Impact
Multi‐omics profiling of stroke patients exposes systemic molecular fingerprints of immune activation, oxidative stress and metabolic collapse. Complement and coagulation cascade, and cholesterol metabolism emerge as shared functional hallmarks of plasma migrasomes in stroke patients and migrasomes isolated from experimental stroke mice.
